Unlike our previous AMPED! Competition finalists , Dutch Electro Punk duo Mye_Taai didn’t actually make an appearance at any of the three semi finals. Due to compete at the London leg of the competition, Mye_Taai sacrificed their chance of claiming the £5K prize and settled with a slot performing on the AMPED! stage at this years Lakefest.

Like all AMPED! finalists, Mye__Taai were narrowed down from over 543 entries in a competition to win £5K prize and a main stage Lakefest slot before legendary artists Gaz Coombes and Johnny Marr. The Hague based duo Mike and Rik use their witty humor and honest commentary on working class life and injustices against an electro punk fueled soundtrack. They released their debut EP I Bet You a 5er in October last year and have went full force into 2023 with two brand new singles released already. Keen to make an impact outside their native Netherlands, Mye_Taai take to the Lakefest AMPED! stage on Sunday 13th August.

MYE_TAAI

How would you describe your sound in three words?

Electronic Rave Punk

Shortlisted from 543 artists down to just 25 – how did that feel?

Quite honoured and surprised really to be recognised among so many artists from the UK whom we don’t actually know as we’re from The Hague, The Netherlands. Don’t really know what we were expecting, probably as a non-UK act/band it would’ve been a proper chance to not get chosen with an entry list like that, but to be fair we think we’re worth it and we’ll show it to you.

Most competitions have only one winner, were you shocked to find out there was also an opportunity to play the Amped stage?

No not really. Just kidding, it’s good to see that there are still people out there who don’t bet only on the established champagne and caviar racehorses that have more 50k fake followers, likes and streams and all that nonsense. It’s good to see that people like Robbo, Rhi, Rachel and Alex and all who are involved with this to give a chance to multiple talented artist to play their set of tunes instead of one. So not shocked more excited.

You are playing the Amped stage – what can festival goers expect from your set?

A rave club for two with an electronic rave punk set straight from a bemusement area with a bracing dose of reality in grim rants, tunes and a right laugh. That’s what you need at a festival on a Sunday afternoon innit.

Who is one band/artist you want to catch at Lakefest?

No brainer that one: Mye_Taai, hahaha but after a quick peek at the line-up on the website , would say Krafty Kuts. We play a gig in London the day before so unfortunately we only be there on the Sunday.

Who stood out for you with the other semi finalists?

Can’t really tell, as we skipped that one, we couldn’t jump the channel on the one we were supposed to appear in London, travel wise we couldn’t make it. So I think all of em are as good in what they do.

What else have you got planned as a band this year?

We’ll be back the 25/26 of August to play London again and FoxFest in Nottingham. Gonna release a couple more tunes, a mixtape/album probably and more. And we’re gonna do some gigs in The Netherlands in October together with our great mates of Badger (from Newcastle), as you want to check them out. And in November we’ll be doing some with them also in the UK as well together with KEZ (from Derby) who you all should check out to.

One track of yours that everybody should listen to?

The whole set of tunes, so all of em, but if we have to choose one at the moment than it’ll be McKroket

If we see you at the bar, what you having?

A large pint of cider I reckon
