PREMIERE: ED BENNETT RELEASES NEW VIDEO FOR ‘WORLDS BETWEEN’

Today, Ed Bennett releases his new video for single ‘Worlds Between’.

Despite being just 24 years old, Bennett is impatient with 21st century musical rules. With his tank commander dad and school teacher mom, Bennett was raised in a world apart at the UK military’s Westfalen barracks in Paderborn, Germany. Growing up there he drew inspiration from classic songwriters such as Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen, and his music is steeped in nostalgia, with a wistful, melancholic quality.

Ed says of ‘World’s Between’…

“The song started with the riff that came to me whilst just playing around on the guitar. I worked out the main structure of the song first and originally had a different set of lyrics to it which I wasn’t overly thrilled with. I remember the final lyrics came when I was watching the news one day during the Black Lives Matter movement on TV. I suppose that was really the catalyst of the songs message. Then I just penned out what was essentially happening in the world at the time be it from my view point or what I perceived to be the majority of the peoples views. ‘Word on the street there’s talking bout a revolutions gonna come and I lost my job in the sign of the times and I know I’m not the only one’ i.e. losing my several odd jobs I was doing at the time as well as music etc. To
cut it short I believe the songs about not letting the times get you down
about it all. There’s too many songs I feel that get overly pessimistic about
the matter. Wherever you look or turn there’s always bad news so I wanted
to make something more optimistic about it i.e. ‘Its here right now that it
matters more than ever. It’s here right now to remember where we’ve been.
It’s here right now we stand as one together. Cause it’s here right now that
we’re just Worlds Between.”

Before signing to Marquee Records, the heirs to the legendary London rock venue’s name and spirit, Bennett had to scrap every note he had written for his debut album. In the end, the album ‘Worlds Between’ was made in Oxford’s Woodworm Studios, Willesden’s Fish Factory, and Michael Smith’s own Northwest London studio, where Smith gained a reputation for sharp, raw, yet immaculate sounds.
