EADES’ EPIC HOMECOMING SHOW AT LEEDS’ BRUDENELL SOCIAL CLUB

On a chilly Sunday night, Eades fans gathered in the wonderful Brudenell Social Club in Leeds for their first hometown gig in two years, and what a homecoming it was. The venue itself is beautiful, with fantastic lighting and sound to match, so it was such a lovely place to hold a momentous gig.
CORAL MOB
Coal Mob opened up proceedings; appropriately, they have a song called ‘Bounce’ because their youthful energy absolutely tore up the stage. These guys were natural born performers, and were an absolute credit to the night. They saved what will be their new single ‘Caneiro’s Disco’ for last and I can’t wait for it to come out because it was just so groovy.

NATURE KIDS
As I was buying one of Coal Mob’s shirts at the merch stand, I heard a song come on and I thought to myself “oh I should Shazam this, it’s such a vibe” and I turned around to see that Nature Kids had started playing. I’m not sure a review can get better than that. They were shoe-gazey and charming, and featured both a melodica (a kind of mini keyboard with a mouthpiece) and a saw being played with a bow. I’ve seen a lot of gigs with gimmicks which didn’t actually add anything to the music but the screeches were so on point and fit the vibe so well.

EADES
And finally, the marvelous Eades. It was such a pleasure to see some well seasoned musicians at the end of a tour, everything seemed slick and well rehearsed without being dull. In fact it was anything but. They delighted us with unreleased tracks from the album they’re currently working on, my favourite of which was ‘Outside Inside’, an unbelievably catchy song we were all singing along with by the final chorus. What initially started as a recording project out of boredom between uni friends, has produced something truly wonderful, and their latest EP ‘Fight or Flight’ shows just how far they’ve come as musicians and producers because it is incredible both to stream and to hear live.
