A DARING, OPULENT RETURN | INHALER SHARE NEW SINGLE ‘YOUR HOUSE’
SINGLE REVIEW | INHALER – YOUR HOUSE By Keira Knox
Inhaler are back and better than ever with the release of their brand new single, ‘Your House’. The single marks their first release since 2023’s critically acclaimed sophomore album, ‘Cuts & Bruises’. Along with the release of ‘Your House,’ the Dublin indie stars—who are comprised of drummer Ryan McMahon, guitarist Josh Jenkinson, bassist Robert Keating, and frontman and guitarist Elijah Hewson—have also revealed the title of their third album, ‘Open Wide.’
Kid Harpoon, also known as Tom Hull, produced the third album, ‘Open Wide.’ He is most widely recognised for producing Harry Styles’ 2022 Grammy Award-winning album, ‘Harry’s House.’ This album arrives after last year’s ‘Cuts & Bruises’ and his 2021 debut, ‘It Won’t Always Be Like This.’ ‘Open Wide’ will be available via Polydor on February 7, 2025.
With Inhaler’s brand-new sound radiating from every lyric, ‘Your House’ is a daring, opulent return. Sonically and musically, it explores a wide range of topics that fans had not heard prior from the band. With the House Gospel Choir providing background vocals, this 70s rock-inspired track is taken to a whole new level. Hewson’s vocals are at their best in ‘Your House’, complimented perfectly by McMahon’s heavy drum beats that pulsate throughout the background. Their experimentation has been fundamental to the creation of this track, their tireless work ethic paying off, with a single that’s set to take the music world by storm.
The first preview of this song and many more that will be on the album was given to us while Inhaler was on their headline North American tour. ‘Your House’ is inspired by New York City, capturing the spirit of a bustling metropolis in both lyrics and instrumentation. The repetitive nature of the heavy synth beats that flow throughout, create the illusion of footsteps reverberating from the pavement correlating with the mission in which the lyrics portray, “I’m going to your house tonight”.
On the musical front, the experimentation with new sounds is remarkable. The result of years of hard work, ‘Your House’ feels like Inhaler is finally finding its footing and is a more succinct release than its predecessor. It draws attention to their song writing and instrumental prowess, which appeared to have gone unnoticed in recent years.
