LIVE REVIEW | BETH HART w/ Wille and The Bandits | POOLE LIGHTHOUSE 28/11/2024 by Kevin O’Sullivan

Rating: 5 out of 5.

I have never had the pleasure of seeing Beth Hart perform before but I already can’t wait to see her again. The American singer-songwriter best known for her powerful and soulful voice has been captivating audiences for nearly three decades with her unique blend of blues, rock, and jazz influences.

Last week, Beth rocked the UK with two special appearances with the first being in the presence of over 1400 diehard fans at the sold out Poole Lighthouse. The multi-art theatre was a perfect venue to showcase the consummate performer, with her energy, fantastic singing ability and amazing connection with the crowd shining through every moment.

Wille and The Bandits

The evening was elevated by the acoustic stylings of her supporting duo, Wille and the
Bandits
. Originating from Cornwall, Wille and the Bandits have appeared at the likes of Glastonbury and Isle of Wight Festival and are known for their eclectic mix of blues, rock, and roots influences. The duo set the tone with intricate guitar work and soulful melodies, earning warm applause from the audience. Set to return next year with a full band tour, it is definitely worth making an effort to catch one of their local shows.

Beth Hart

Beth Hart took the stage with an electrifying presence and dived into a setlist that spanned her career, showcasing new songs and classics. She delivered powerful renditions of fan favourites like ‘You Still Got Me’ and piano playing opener, ‘I Believe’ blending raw emotion with technical precision. Her connection with the
audience was palpable as she shared personal stories and insights, making the evening feel intimate despite the venue’s capacity. Beth’s ability to channel deep vulnerability (her open history of drug abuse and bipolar diagnosis) whilst maintaining her powerhouse vocal strength left the crowd awestruck for nearly
2.5 hours before finishing the show with a dazzling rendition of her beautiful song
‘Thankful’. At times moving effortlessly across the stage or sitting on the front edge singing to the enraptured front row or other times singing her way round the auditorium, she is an effortless performer. The Lighthouse venue’s acoustics amplified the richness of the performances, creating a warm and immersive experience and totally unique, Beth’s setlist changes every night so each gig becomes a totally unrepeated experience.

The show was a triumphant display of talent and artistry, with both acts demonstrating their ability to captivate and connect with their audience.
This performance will undoubtedly linger in the memories of all who attended and, me for one, cannot wait to see her perform again!

Beth Hart returns to England early next year with shows in Bristol, London and Warwick – remaining tickets available here.
