Buried in the Basement is a new high-energy Halloween anthem by LUNARS (Connor Ball -The Vamps – and Sasa Macek – Cheat Codes). The track wasn’t actually intended for a full release- but after high demand from their fans on TikTok, the duo decided to release the track today (October 20th). The artwork was created by a fan too which is a real reflection of how more and more artists have been using social media to connect with their fanbases.
In a TikTok posted prior to the tracks release, Connor mentions the inspiration for the song came from a girl he went to school with. An avid watcher of murder documentaries, she is referenced in lyric “popcorn, she’s bored of murder documentaries”. Although it’s a little more pop than punk, the chorus is certainly catchy, and leaves fans thirsty for a live performance of the tune.
The duos previous musical efforts are pretty evident on the track with Macek’s drums keeping the tempo up and Ball’s bass skills shining through. Ball’s vocals are a strong match for the pop-punk style of music LUNARS have been bringing out, so it’s great to hear them stronger than ever on Buried in the Basement.
They may still be new to the scene, but following on from hits Back for More and Boys Will Cry last year, LUNARS are undoubtedly one to watch. Fans can also look forward to another single from the pair – Figure It Out – set for release next week.
