AN ODE TO FRIENDSHIP | NEW SINGLE FROM LIVERPOOL’S DYLAN ROBERT

SINGLE REVIEW | DYLAN ROBERT – STUCK IN THE MUD by Rachel Puk

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Liverpool’s honeyed voice Dylan Robert has bloomed through the spring scene with brand new single ‘Stuck In The Mud’. An ode to friendship, the track is built on gorgeous guitar melodies, perky drums and a beautifully dynamic bass-line that ties the band’s musicality together. A four-minute track where every second entrances our ears.

The tune carries an emotive prang throughout. Focusing on the unbreakable promise of friendship through feeling stuck and melancholy.

Isaac Grover on guitar ensures our attention just seconds into the track. Its tone grants a playful listening experience. Riffs dance on our ears sporadically throughout verses, then glitter smoothly throughout each chorus. Complimenting Robert’s voice and hopeful lyrics, the guitar holds a twang reminiscent to The Night Café‘s.

Because trouble comes,

sends you down this road you’re on,

When did you get so cynical?

We’re both stuck in this mud”

A totally catchy bridge winding its way through the song whilst Ethen Gaylard on bass breathes life into the raw lyrics, pushing us into the hopeful and rectifying chorus, where Jamie Alsamarraie on drums punches through, continuing to add depth throughout the fulfilling track.

With each release, Robert proves a great knack for storytelling throughout his lyricism, alongside a band with undeniable instrumental chemistry. His modern indie sound bleeds honesty and warmth with this track, and an audience will have no objection to sing along.
