PYNCHER SIGN TO HEIST OR HIT AND RELEASE NEW SINGLE ‘ONE DAY’
Manchester risers pyncher have announced their signing to cult indie label Heist or Hit (home to Westside Cowboy, Her’s, ladylike) and dropped their electrifying new single ‘One Day’.
The release follows their acclaimed set at BBC 6 Music Festival in Manchester and lands just ahead of a UK and European tour supporting The Sophs, with festival dates lined up throughout the summer.
‘One Day’ captures the feral energy Pyncher has become known for their onstage performances. The track fizzes with static and tension, urgent, wistful, and wired. It opens with a rush of stacked vocals before erupting into three minutes of blown‑out guitars and crushed drum‑machine rhythms. Written during a phase of obsession with drum‑machine‑heavy Strokes cuts, Ty Segall’s fuzzed‑out vocal grit, and the raw emotional punch of Neutral Milk Hotel, the song became a playground for distortion, saturation, and sonic chaos.
Those textures came to life with producer Alex Greaves at The Nave in Leeds. During a break in the sessions, guitarist Harvey O’Toole stumbled across a broken pedal that accidentally created the track’s warped, addictive solo. Lyrically, vocalist Sam Blakeley explains:
“The song is about people growing apart and how you can’t really stop it. There’s longing in there, but also acceptance. We all change and grow, and this song is me trying to get my head around that.”
pyncher have quickly become a key part of Manchester’s revitalised music landscape, sitting alongside acts like Westside Cowboy, TTSSFU and Martial Arts in drawing fresh attention to the city. With support from The Guardian, DIY, So Young, The Line of Best Fit and spins across BBC 6 Music, the band’s momentum is unmistakable.
