On Friday night The K’s took on Manchester’s Castlefield Bowl as part of the annual Sounds Of The City festival. The widely anticipated show was not only the opening night of the show series, but the band’s biggest headline show to date, only a stone’s throw from their hometown of Earlestown, Merseyside.
The night kicked off with incredible support from rising indie band Fletchr Fletchr, and Irish rock band Dea Matrona. Both were welcomed with open arms by the crowd, with the venue busy from the time the gates opened. Castlefield bowl was turned into a sea of band merch, from Oasis to The Royston Club, Fontaines to The Lilacs (and – of course – lots of The K’s merch).

From the second the band came out on stage, every song was met with the same energy as the last. The crowd were in absolute awe of the band, and honestly it was a true joy to watch. During ‘Hoping Maybe’ a sea of fans could be seen on peoples shoulders, many holding fan made flags. It was one of those moments that really makes you sit back and reflect on the joy of music, and how it brings people together in this way.
Lead singer, Jamie Boyle, also took a moment to thank the crowd, marking the night by saying: “Y’know this is the biggest headline show we’ve ever done” thanking fans for selling the night out so quickly and their ongoing support. 8000 fans joined together to sing back every word and could be heard all throughout Deansgate, with hit tracks‘Sarajevo’ and ‘Dacton and Wanderella’ closing the set.
