Another year, another heatwave! This time, 15,000 festival-goers were slightly more prepared, as was the festival with extra water stations and its dedicated festival store selling bags of ice and ice pops all weekend – safe to say everyone treated themselves to one every now and again!

Wenesday

The first day of 2000trees this year gave us a whole host of incredible acts to feast our eyes on. Ranging from Brazil’s finest, Karen Dió, to festival favourites Split Chain, there was truly something for everyone, with Lake Malice headlining the Word Stage that night and PUP playing an intimate headline set (said no one ever!) at the Forest Stage. Across the day, the festival also hosted politically charged rap-punk artist Hyphen, masked nu-metal heavy hitters BLACKGOLD, and arguably one of the best DIY punk bands out there, Bruise Control.

Thursday

Thursday kicked off the real action of the four-day weekend. In what was possibly one of the latest headline changes in Trees history, Don Broco were the standout act of the entire weekend. To have stepped in only a week or two before the festival and produce a set of that calibre was truly incredible. Alongside Broco were plenty of other standout performances, from the ever-rising and incredibly talented Native James to UK heavyweights Bad Nerves, genre-defying The Skinner Brothers, and ‘grit-pop’ duo snake eyes. Even as the temperature continued to climb, the energy never wavered – and that shone through across every single act all day long.

Friday

Friday was truly the day to be there if you wanted to sweat even more than you thought possible. Electronic rock duo House of Protection made sure the Main Stage was left dustier than ever, complete with a mid-circle-pit cameo from legendary producer Jordan Fish halfway through their set. It was also a day when you could cry, scream, and throw up (hopefully metaphorically). Free Throw and Arcane Roots brought the emotion, while Knives, Militarie Gun, and Mallory Knox brought the energy and the mosh pits.

Headliners Funeral For A Friend brought a massive wave of nostalgia over everyone at the Main Stage. Fronted by the phenomenal Lucas Woodland (Holding Absence) – whose stunning vocals left the crowd in awe- and bringing out Ben Barlow (Neck Deep) for a song was the true epitome of Welshness.

Saturday

Saturday, being the final day, naturally had to go out with a bang. Although I couldn’t stay for the whole day, the finale truly lived up to all expectations. Battlesnake delivered one of the most memorable sets of the weekend, alongside both an acoustic and electric set from Scottish rockers The XCERTS, High Regard playing the Forest Stage (as they do best), and As Everything Unfolds absolutely melting the Axiom Stage – not to mention the final UK festival appearance from Jon Cass. It was an incredible end to an incredible long weekend, no matter the heat!

2000trees has confirmed that it will return for 2027. Marking its 20th anniversary, the festival will take place between 7th and 10th July.
