LIVE REVIEW | TAME IMPALA | ROD LAVER ARENA, MELBOURNE | 14th October 2026 By Alira Fratantaro

On Thursday night, Tame Impala brought his latest live production for his album Deadbeat to Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena. Opening the night with sweeping visuals, intricate lighting and immersive stage design, he was joined by Australian electronic artist Ninajirachi as support, which transformed the arena into a vibrant canvas of light and colour.

Kicking things off, Central Coast producer and DJ Ninajirachi brought her signature blend of futuristic electronic music to the stage. Opening with ‘Girl EDM’, before moving into ‘London Song’ and ‘Ninacamina’, her set fused high energy beats with shimmering synths and elaborate production. Inspired by fantasy, science fiction and the natural world, Ninajirachi’s music creates an otherworldly atmosphere, and that vision was matched by an impressive lighting display that stretched across the whole arena. The synchronised visuals elevated each track, creating an immersive experience that immediately drew the crowd into the night.

As the lights dimmed for Tame Impala, the atmosphere shifted from adrenaline fueled dance energy to Kevin Parker’s unmistakable psychedelic world. Opening with the fan favourite ‘Apocalypse Dreams’, followed by an unreleased live instrumental titled ‘Deadbeat Jam’ and the staple track ‘Borderline’, the set showcased his ability to seamlessly blend soaring melodies, layered instrumentation and hypnotic visuals. The production was as much a part of the performance as the music itself, with complex lighting effects washing over Rod Laver Arena.

From Ninajirachi’s vibrant electronic energy to Tame Impala’s expansive psychedelic universe, both artists created moments that were as visually striking as they were musically powerful. With waves of colour, intricate lighting patterns, and two artists with unequivocally unique identities, the evening was a true audiovisual experience.
