Last week, Celtic Connections welcomed Scottish rock icon, KT Tunstall to celebrate 20 years of her groundbreaking debut album ‘Eye To The Telescope’ in two unique performances. First, a formal affair at Glasgow’s Royal Concert Hall and next, with a proper Scottish knees-up at the iconic Glasgow Barrowland Ballroom; the latter which we were honoured to be part of.
“When I made Eye to the Telescope, it never crossed my mind where I might be when it turned 20. Over the years, I’ve been told the most amazing stories of what these songs mean to people all over the World, how they’ve been with them through love and loss, through being lost and getting found. It’s been a beautiful thrill.” – KT Tunstall (Celtic Connections).
Released back in December 2004, Eye to the Telescope is a classic album that really shaped British music in the 2000s. In these special shows, KT performed the entire 5 time platinum album for the first time, giving fans a unique chance to experience the magic of that era all over again. This album launched KT Tunstall into fame, making her one of the UK’s top singer-songwriters. With hit tracks like ‘Black Horse and the Cherry Tree’, ‘Suddenly I See’ and ‘Other Side of the World’ it quickly became a favourite among fans and earned her critical praise all over the world.
KT Tunstall will perform Eye To The Telescope in full one more time when she performs London’s Royal Albert Hall on June 23rd. The show takes place on KT’s actual 50th Birthday and will feature some tbc special guests.
