‘A BIG BOOK AND A BAND AND THE WHOLE WORLD WINDOW’ – A VISUAL HISTORY SET FOR LIMITED RELEASE

Next week, well respected and iconic underground rock band Cardiacs will bring the closest thing to a live show in 2024 to venues across the UK.

Set for a sold out Manchester on Thursday 10th October, the show will then visit Glasgow the following day (11th), Newcastle (12th) and Brighton (13th). The line up of who we can expect to see perform on the night is currently kept under tight wraps. However, fans can be reassured that going by the show’s earlier reincarnation in May, that there will be many familiar faces from the band’s diverse line up over their 40 year legacy.

The live shows come around as the announcement that independent publisher, Melodic Virtue, share details over a meticulously crafted visual History book of the bands long history. Set for release January 2025, pre-orders are open for the limited run of ‘A Big Book and A Band and the Whole World Window’ are open now from Melodic Virtues Website.

Renowned for preserving the legacies of underground bands through meticulously crafted coffee table books, Melodic Virtues are thrilled to share the of the fully authorised visual history of the legendary avant-garde band, Cardiacs. Compiled and designed by Aaron Tanner, the book spans the group’s formative years as Cardiac Arrest to their last single, Ditzy Scene (2007). This new release features rare and unseen photos, artwork, and other ephemera. With an introduction by Shane Embury of Napalm Death, this book is both a tribute and a comprehensive chronicle of the band’s artistry as a whole, providing a wealth of behind-the-scenes looks from the perspectives of band members past and present, alongside fans and friends.

The book also contains a vinyl 7″ record of the previously unreleased track, “Aukamakic/Dead Mouse,” from their 1979 debut, Cardiac Arrest E.P., as well as the track previously unreleased on vinyl, “Faster Than Snakes with a Ball and a Chain.” This song was originally intended for their 1999 full-length, Guns.
