CVC AT THEIR BEST YET ON NEW SINGLE ‘BONNIE & CLYDE’

SINGLE REVIEW | CVC – BONNIE & CLYDE by Kimmi Naidoo

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

Undoubtedly one of the most promising acts in the indie scene right now, following the success of their debut album Get Real, CVC are back to cure the miserable February blues with new single, ‘Bonnie & Clyde’.

From the outset ‘Bonnie & Clyde’ is a noticeably new direction for the band, taking on a more disco sound but still at its core keeps the groove driven sound that they have built over the past few years of their career. The warmth that comes from the pop sounding chorus is an instant mood lifter and despite the complexities of each instrument playing, the track sits at the perfect level of not overwhelming but still incredibly interesting.

The guitar solo which then strips back into an ethereal vocal in the bridge about three quarter way through provides for a bit of light relief before jumping back into the chorus of what will be an all-dancing, all-singing, crowd favourite when played live. There’s an alluring quality in vocalist Francesco Orsi’s voice that combined with production by the legendary Chris Hughes makes the song feel incredibly short despite it being just over 3 and a half minutes. Whilst it doesn’t feel like anything is unfinished by any means, as a listener I could have it on repeat and not grow bored for a very long time.

This is CVC at their best yet with only bigger things to come this year. Their remarkable musicianship combines with a fun sound that feels unique amongst their peers in the indie scene currently and makes them a top band to see before they absolutely skyrocket.

The band head out on a UK headline tour with some festival dates in between, beginning in March in Newport and ending in Sunderland in May and includes back to back nights at London’s Oslo in April. Full list of dates and tickets – https://cvcband.com/
