L Mayland Springs Forth For Debut EP ‘The Slow Fire of Sleep’

Moody reds, dark lighting and minimalistic tones are awash for The Last Dinner Party’s breakaway project, unveiled today via Instagram.

In addition to the EP announcement, L Mayland released its first single, Lighthouse—an intimate, stripped-back track that gradually swells as the metaphorical light spills outward. Accompanied by a hauntingly beautiful music video, Mayland is seen swirling their hands on the bonnet of a car in an eerie yet inviting outdoor setting. Warm, flickering beams of light bathe them and a second figure in golden hues, casting a gentle surrealism over the entire scene.

‘Lighthouse’ is a poignant meditation on solitude and self-reflection. The lighthouse as a symbol of hope amidst life’s turbulence feels especially resonant, arriving alongside the UK Supreme Court’s ruling that defines ‘woman’ based on biological sex. It’s a painfully well-timed reminder of the fragility of existence—of the constant effort it takes simply to stay afloat.

This track marks a heartfelt and deeply human entry into Mayland’s solo catalogue, offering a glimpse into the emotional richness that’s likely to shape the rest of the EP.

Pre-order ‘Lighthouse’ here, due for release on May 9th. To celebrate, L Mayland will play shows at St Matthias Church, London (9th May) and The Castle Hotel, Manchester (11th May).
