Korea Spotlight – a global music showcase presented by Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA) and Live Nation Australasia – arrived at 170 Russell in Melbourne last week with Wah Wah Wah, Say Sue Me, CIFIKA, Sion and special guests Teen Jesus and The Jean Teasers.

Wah Wah Wah

Wah Wah Wah are a 4 piece psychedelic rock band from Seoul, South Korea. They are currently one of the most notable rock bands in Korea with their music having tones of garage rock with progressive rock’s intricate and refined elements.

Say Sue Me

Say Sue Me are indie pop rockers from Busan, South Korea. Their music has a unique blend of indie pop, surf rock, shoegaze and rock ‘n’ roll. Their most recent album – The Last Thing Left –  was released in 2022 along with a cover EP called 10 which was released to celebrate their 10th anniversary.

CIFIKA

CIFIKA was born in South Korea but went to high school and college in Oregon and California. Her multicultural experience led to a heightened awareness of language, which she brings to her lyrics in both languages. She creates music that pushes boundaries with electronic pop compositions and vivid music realms.

Sion

Sion is a self taught singer-songwriter-producer who was born in Germany but now lives in South Korea. He broke out into the music scene with a standout performance on The Voice of Germany and he is a unique talent in the K-Pop industry with his hybrid sound of jazz, glitch hop, indie rock and pop.

Teen Jesus and The Jean Teasers

Teen Jesus and The Jean Teasers are an Australian rock band formed in Canberra. In the last few years they have supported the Foo Fighters at their stadium show in Melbourne before going on their I Love You Too deluxe album tour and joining Pearl Jam on their Australian tour. They are also the first non-male band to win ARIA Award for Breakthrough Artist.
