PETE DOHERTY’S STRAP ORIGINALS SHARE NEW SINGLE FROM ‘REAL FARMER’
THE DUTCH PUNKS RELEASE ‘THE STRAIGHTEST LINE’ AHEAD OF DEBUT ALBUM & UK TOUR
Today (10th January 2024) Dutch punk band Real Farmer have released their new single The Straightest Line through Peter Doherty’s Strap Originals.
The second single to be lifted from their forthcoming debut album Compare What’s There (released 8th March 2024) The Straightest Line follows November’s release Inner City. To celebrate the release the band have just announced five headline shows in London, Exeter, Oxford, Bristol and Nottingham.
REAL FARMER
As active members of the vibrant local music scene with their wonderfully infectious punk noise, Real Farmer’s debut album Compare What’s There finds guitarist/vocalist Peter van der Ploeg, bassist/vocalist Marrit Meinema, singer Jeroen Klootsema and drummer Leon Harms concocting fast-paced, driving songs with wiry riffs, propelling drums, and winding melodies. Each track stands on its own, both expressing a nostalgia for a different time and reflecting the time and place the songs were written in, showing the multifaceted personalities that make up Real Farmer.
Hailing from the Netherlands northern city of Groningen, the four piece have adopted the regions integral ‘do it yourself’ punk attitude and is reflected in their music. If you’re a fan of the classic punk styles such as The Stooges, MC5 or even Misfits, then Real Farmer may just be your new jam. Speaking about the single The Straightest Line, they said;
“ It’s about walking the straightest line, which means to lead a clean life: to work out, eat healthy, stay away from drugs and alcohol. Often this way of living is seen as the one size fits all solution to any type of mental struggle, yet its rigidity can become a very debilitating and alienating thing.”

As part of Independent Venue Week, Real Farmer will be playing six shows in January and February on the Triple Dutch Tour with Personal Trainer and The Klittens. They will then return to the UK in March supporting Bull in Brighton before celebrating their debut album release with five just announced headline shows.
