REAL FARMER SHARE INFECTIOUS NEW RELEASE ‘CONSEQUENCE’
THE DUTCH BAND PREPARE TO RELEASE THEIR DEBUT ALBUM ON PETER DOHERTY’S STRAP ORIGINAL’S
Real Farmer, release a new single, Consequence through Peter Doherty’s Strap Originals, on Wednesday 14th February.
Consequence is the third single, along with The Straightest Line, which garnered multiple plays on BBC Radio One and was playlisted at Radio X and Inner City to be taken from Real Farmer’s debut album, Compare What’s There, which is released 8th March 2024.
To celebrate the release the band have announced five headline shows in London, Exeter, Oxford, Bristol and Nottingham in March.
As active members of the vibrant local music scene with their wonderfully infectious punk noise, Real Farmer’s debut album Compare What’s There finds guitarist/vocalist Peter van der Ploeg, bassist/vocalist Marrit Meinema, singer Jeroen Klootsema and drummer Leon Harms concocting fast-paced, driving songs with wiry riffs, propelling drums, and winding melodies. Each track stands on its own, both expressing a nostalgia for a different time and reflecting the time and place the songs were written in, showing the multifaceted personalities that make up Real Farmer. Groningen is one of the youngest cities in Europe, thanks in part to a ‘do it yourself’ nonprofit attitude, of which Real Farmer have become an integral part. If you weren’t born when the MC5, the Stooges or the Pixies were kicking out the jams, make Real Farmer your new jam. I promise you won’t be disappointed.
Speaking on the video for Consequence the band said,
“We gave our favourite videographer Héctor Garcia Martin (hache.mov) free rein to interpret and create a video clip for the song. Héctor says: “The way I treated the video was about not knowing. In the video you never know who the main character is, it could be anyone. Keeping this unknown brings about both feelings of universality, this person could be all of us, as well as of not caring about it at all anymore. It’s a mix of not knowing and not caring. The character itself seems to be wondering around, going through the days, seemingly lost and constantly looking for something.”
Real Farmer have just completed six shows for Independent Venue Week with fellow Dutch up-and-comers Personal Trainer (including members of Real Farmer) and The Klittens. In March the band are on the road again supporting Bull in Brighton along with five headline shows.
