LIVE REVIEW | DEMIMONDE | VOODOO ROOMS, EDINBURGH | 17th April 2026 by Mairi Lynch

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Demimonde (@demimonde_band on Instagram) opened for Callum Blane on Friday 17th at Voodoo Rooms in Edinburgh.

The young Glasgow-based band all met while studying music at Glasgow Clyde college together. There music is indie folk focused, with subtle hints of jazz. Although they are still new to the music scene as a group, they already show they are more than capable of creating amazing music together.

Fronted by guitarist and lead singer Rachel Morven Rodger, with her soft yet powerful voice, the band also features Tom Cameron on bass, Danny Steele on drums, and Roddy Maciver on lead guitar. Even during soundcheck, their talent was evident, setting the tone for the rest of their performance.

Danny Steele stood out in particular to me, bringing energy and extremely impressive skilled beats that elevated the set. Their first and final songs were a favourite of mine, but there whole set was a filled with amazing original songs and some covers mixed in. With songwriting shared across the group (though largely led by the clearly talented Maciver) their sound feels very creative with the mix of genres.

Demimonde are a great new band, filled with talented young musicians. I really hope to see their own headliner in the future and music drop by them soon!
