GLASGOW GOES ‘OFF THE GRID’ FOR BRAND NEW GRASSROOTS FESTIVAL

Last month, Glasgow’s B12 Entertainment announced OFF THE GRID – a massive four-week, 12-show celebration of grassroots music running across the city from August 27th to September 25th.

Featuring some of Scotland’s brightest emerging talent, every single night offers a uniquely curated line-up spanning indie riffs, pop hooks, sweat-drenched punk, and face-melting metal. Presented in partnership with Glasgow Gigs, HMV Glasgow, and yours truly, Northern Exposure, OFF THE GRID is designed for music lovers who thrive on catching next big things before the rest of the world takes notice.

At a time when concertgoers are increasingly priced out of major arena shows, joining the fightback has never mattered more. With tickets capped at just £13 across every single show (£12 + £1 booking fee), heading to a gig directly fuels an under-funded, essential music ecosystem. Without intimate stages for emerging acts to hone their craft and build an audience, working-class artists don’t get the ladder up to national platforms.

As B12 puts it, the goal is simple: “Grow the audience for grassroots music by showcasing as much of the incredible talent that exists outside of major venues on a single programme.”

Week 1

Kicking off on Thursday 27th August at SWG3 Poetry Club is a very special just announced indie leaning line-up. Curated by one of many young professionals learning the biz at B12, event manager Adam, the first of the series will welcome Capulets, Insert Caption, Mantis and The Blanks to the intimate west end venue.

From then on in, OFF THE GRID goes all guns waving with a mammoth three shows taking place across many hot pockets of the city. Ivory Blacks – just a short walk from Glasgow Central Station, aims to host arguably one of the hottest line-ups of the entire series with Klozer, Modern Ruin and One Nine Eight.

On the other side of Central Station, Lucky Strike Basement is also about to go off with After Reno, Careo, Dive Casino and Hotel Motel all taking to the dark, mucky basement stage. For those haunting the East End of the city, Bean Bag, Sick Pay and Two Strangers will be gathering in Van Winkle (opposite the legendary Barrowland Ballroom).

Week 2

Returning to Lucky Strike Basement just over a week later on Saturday 5th September, Civil Hands , Cupid Stunts, Start From Scratch and The Skins are turning up the amps for a very loud and sweaty one. Expect heavy riffs, a good dose of headbagging and hopefully a fair few pits opening up as this line-up aren’t scared to turn it up to 11.

Week 3

Thursday 10th September and the fun returns to Ivory Blacks with D-CNTR, Mercinary, Mercy Prevails, Titanboa all kicking off a very busy OFF THE GRID weekend.

Friday 11th September is set to host two seperate events at Audio and Lucky Strike Basement. Serving a five band line up, Audio will host Dolphin, Haircut Overdose, Sawnoff, Girly Scream and The Hootenanies.

Then, back at Lucky Strike Basement things are even heavier with Conclave, Macaques, TTLS and We Are Not Afraid of Robots all leaving their mark on the city centre venue. Finally to wrap up the big weekend, its spotlight on the solo artists with Chef, Ryan Brown and Scott Kirley setting the tone for the night.

Week 4

If you’re still not sold, then please – mark Friday 18th September for OFF THE GRID as the series has not one, but two unbelievable packed line-ups on offer across two of Glasgow’s most iconic live venues. At Glasgow Garage Attic, some of the city’s most exhilarating live acts come to together on one stacked up line up. Too Red, Brielle, The Drive, Magnetless and Zebra Lane give serious value for buck in the attic bar. Meanwhile, Drygate – situated to the east of city centre – is hosting even bigger with Sidewalk, Pedalo, The Black Pages and The Rants offering even more value for you miniscule £13 fee.

All good things must come to an end though, and on Friday 25th September, OFF THE GRID hits The Classic Grand. The legendary Glasgow venue, situated just off the iconic four corners will host Daphne Rouge, The Fields, This Retro Future and Ornum.
