GENRE BENDING ROCK TRIO ‘YONAKA’ SET TO BEGIN THEIR ‘WELCOME TO MY HOUSE’ TOUR DATES
THE BAND WILL KICK START THE TOUR IN LONDON NEXT WEEK
Entering another compelling era, YONAKA kickstarted the year with their chaotically catchy single PREDATOR via LAVA/Republic Records. PREDATOR soundtracks a new cinematic video for the video game VALORANT, developed by Riot Games. The video, which has racked up a whopping 9.1+ million views, can be seen on VALORANT’s official YouTube channel, HERE. Fans can also listen to PREDATOR HERE, and watch the official lyric video NOW.
About the song, Theresa said, “It’s a vicious, fierce, and aggressive song that makes you wanna move like you’re possessed and scream at the same time. Lyrically it’s about standing up tall and fighting back. This is PREDATOR”.
Having just wrapped a co-headline tour with alternative singer-songwriter Cassyette around the US, the alt/rock trio are getting ready to embark on their own European and UK headline tour next month. The Welcome To My House tour is in celebration of their EP release of the same name, which can be heard here. The EU leg will run from 1st March-17th March, shortly before heading back to British soil. The UK dates will kick off at London’s KOKO on 19th March, and then hit venues in cities including Birmingham, Sheffield, Manchester, Glasgow, Bristol, and will then wrap up in their hometown at Brighton’s Chalk, on 27th March. Full details and tickets can be found here.
Sound bends to the whim of emotion. For YONAKA, music morphs in tandem with moods. Distortion teems with tension in moments of heavy catharsis, only to come back down in an exhale of electronic reprieve. As such, the trio —Theresa Jarvis [vocals], Alex Crosby [bass], and George Werbrouck-Edwards [guitar]— fuse pop, punk, and hip-hop into a hypnotic alternative rock hybrid. The group burrow deep inside themes of mental health, empowerment and the here and now with clear intention and expansive vision.
