Captivating and refreshing, Bristol based trio Gold Fever are hitting every spot with their high energy dance inspired drum and bass rock music. With only two single releases under their belt to date, Gold Fever are admittedly in their infancy, however, you wouldn’t know it. This band are tight. Already gaining good reviews across the local tour circuits, the Prodigy vibe trio can be reassured that things can only rocket from here.

The three piece – Oscar JD Sault, Emily Andrews and Callum Right – played to a home town crowd last month as part of Lakefest Amped Stage semi-final. The competition which will see the winning act prized £5K and a place on Lakefest’s main stage line up has been whittled down from over 500 talented entries to just 25 semi-finalists. Unfortunately Gold Fever next made the final cut, however, they will still play the festivals Amped Stage this summer. We had the opportunity to chat to the band about their competition experience and what we can expect from them next.

How would you describe your sound in three words?
Slick, lyrical, rhythmic.

Shortlisted from 543 artists down to just 25 – how did that feel?
It was a privilege to have been selected considering we’ve only been a band for one year. We’ve been ecstatic at the response over the last few months and know we have lots more to give.

Most competitions have only one winner, were you shocked to find out there was also an opportunity to play the Amped stage?
It was nice to know that no matter the outcome, we’d already won in several ways. To be included in the line up for Lakefest this year is an excellent way to be ending a busy summer.

You are playing the Amped stage – what can festival goers expect from your set?
Expect to hear a range of our best material designed to make you dance. A lot of lyrical depth for the audience to unpack and a stylised approach to current rock music.

Who is one band/artist you want to catch at Lakefest?
Johnny Marr

Who stood out for you at the semi final?
Echo Gecco and Red Hot Riot.

Of all the bands competing who would you like to see win the prize?
We were seriously impressed with the aforementioned two bands and thought they were really unlucky to not get through.

What else have you got planned as a band this year?
We’re playing 2000 Trees and Bristol Harbour Festival in close succession. Obviously Lakefest too with a really exciting unannounced show lined up towards the end of the year. Additionally, at the time of this interview, new music is imminent.

One track of yours that everybody should listen to?
Que Sera. It fully encompasses what Gold Fever is about.

If we see you at the bar, what you having?
Bourbon neat for Oscar and Callum. Exclusively cider for Emily.
