SON ESTRELLA GALICA RETURN TO LONDON WITH NEW MUSIC MICRO-FEST
COACH PARTY, BEER CULTURE, STREET FOOD & WORKSHOPS
Following their biggest London event to date ‘Soundhood Hackney’ – a groundbreaking two day, two-venue micro-festival in June – SON Estrella Galicia return with a night at the venue where it all started, Paper Dress Vintage on September 12th. Once again promising a night of Live Music, Beer Culture, Street Food and Workshops the September event will be headlined by Coach Party, with support from The New Eves, as well as yet-to-be-announced DJ sets and local Music Selectors. Tickets are selling fast! BE QUICK!
In line with their persistent efforts towards Positive Impact they are aiming towards a Zero Waste event. This is a marker all the more significant given the fact that another arm of the brand’s music programme – SON Estrella Galicia Posidonia Festival in Formentera, Spain – has become the only festival in the world to achieve the True Platinum Zero Waste accreditation from GBCI (more info).
Since 2009, SON Estrella Galicia has created events that offer a twist on the traditional concert
experience in Spain, Brazil, Portugal and the US. They have since become well established in the
London scene with 4 events in the past 18 months at Paper Dress Vintage in Hackney including high profile performances and attendees including Los Bitchos, Teleman, Dream Wife, Prima Queen, DEADLETTER, Swim Deep and more.
This edition is headlined by Coach Party – Isle of Wight indie sensations signed to cult label Chess Club Records with acclaim from The Guardian, NME and more around debut album Killjoy (2023). With sets at Glastonbury and support slots with Queens Of The Stone Age under their belt, their visceral live show is for fans of The Breeders, The Big Moon and Nirvana, according to Rough Trade.
They are ably supported by The New Eves. With an unusual lineup of cello, violin, flute, guitar, bass and drums, the quartet’s DIY nature and fierce spirit seem to be conjuring some kind of folkloric punk revival – that has caught the ears of NME, DIY and BBC 6 Music. Going to a New Eves show is like being complicit in some kind of ritualistic opening. They tear up rock and roll at its roots, expressing a journey through seance, strings and electric guitar.
From its inception the family-owned independent beer brand has fostered community roots in Galicia working with local farmers and suppliers, and giving visibility to the region and its people. This is replicated at their events across the world – working with local vendors, artists, and sustainability projects.
For September’s event there will be a Clothing Repair Workshop – with band name and other patches available to customise your repaired clothes, echoing Paper Dress’ vintage clothing roots. There will also be a local gastronomic partner, serving 0km food with Vegan/vegetarian options and sustainable cutlery, in addition to a menu with beer pairings.
There will be Soundcrafters Interactive Workshop – offering all attendees the chance to create their
own songs based on the recipe of Estrella Galicia’s 1906 Reserva Especial or Black Coupage, as well as a Beer Pouring workshop.
Alongside the London events there will be a series of new micro-festivals in cities across Europe, with subsequent partnerships in Madrid, A Coruña, Barcelona later in 2024 and Berlin and Granada in 2025, reflecting a truly global approach from SON Estrella Galicia.
