AMPED – NAKED IMAGE
Feel good indie pop rockers Naked Image are the Newent (South West England) quartet that intend to get you on the dance floor. With their high energy catchy melodies and nostalgic 00’s indie guitar hooks, Naked Image have a familiarity that will warm to listeners instantly. The four piece – which include three cousins and a good friend on bass – are making an impact on the local tour circuits and in 2020 released their debut EP also titled Naked Image.
Having made it all the way down the top 25 artists in the Lakefest Amped Stage Competition semi-final (which will see the winning act prized £5K and a place on Lakefest’s main stage line up), Naked Image competed against 8 fellow artist in the Bristol semi-final at the city’s Exchange last week. Unfortunately the tight competition meant Naked Image lost out on a chance at the main prize, however will play the festivals Amped Stage this summer.
We caught up with them after the show to chat about the experience so far.
How would you describe your sound in three words?
Indie, upbeat, fresh.
Shortlisted from 543 artists down to just 25 – how did that feel?
Amazing compliment, especially once we heard the competition.
Most competitions have only one winner, were you shocked to find out there was also an opportunity to play the Amped stage?
Yes we are stoked to play at Lakefest this year , it’s an amazing festival so glad to be involved.
You are playing the Amped stage – what can festival goers expect from your set?
People can expect to be kept on their toes and be left wanting more. If they aren’t dancing by the end of the set then they are at the wrong stage.
Who is one band/artist you want to catch at Lakefest?
Corella, they are amazing live.
Who stood out for you at the semi final?
Kisskie were cool they had a great sound. We also loved Echo Gecco. They went on first but wow did they blow everyone away. The guitarist had some mad pedal board making his guitar sound out of this world.
Of all the bands competing who would you like to see win the prize?
Two pounds down. We had a good chat with them before the show and they are all sound blokes. Their music is great and will be good for them put the cash prize towards getting their songs on Spotify ( we wanna hear them again!!)
What else have you got planned as a band this year?
Yeah a lot going on this year. We have recently been in the studio so have two songs “Fast in Every Direction” and “Easy Deals” due to be released over the next couple of months. We are also planning on shooting a music video for Fast in Every Direction which is going to be huge. We also have a number of local gigs coming up and another gig in London following our biggest one yet at the 02 Academy. Stay tuned on our socials for more details!
One track of yours that everybody should listen to?
Right now “You Don’t Need No Information” it’s fast , electric and gets you moving. We also recommend looking out for Fast in Every Direction (out in the next couple of months) we think it’s our best yet!!
If we see you at the bar, what you having?
Round of turbo Guinness please ( four Guinness with a bottle of white wine poured in). It gets you pretty messed up but its lovely!
