With three EP’s and a debut album under their metaphorical belt, rockabilly punks Red Hot Riot are smashing it. The trio – Ricky Delaney (vocals/guitar), Daniel West (drums) and Scott McParland (bass) have had a busy 4 years since the release of their first EP Nineteen in 2019. Having toured across the world from America’s Viva Las Vegas Festival right back to our own Glastonbury Festival. Hailing from the idyllic Forest of Dean region, these guys are a refreshing musical trio reimagining the punkabilly music scene in the UK.

Having made their way down to the final 25 acts in this years Amped Stage Competion (which will see the winning act prized £5K and a place on Lakefest’s main stage line up) Red Hot Riot played last months Bristol based semi final at city’s Exchange. Unfortunately for the trio they didn’t make the grand finale but will still play the festivals Amped stage in August. We caught up with Red Hot Riot to chat about it all.

How would you describe your sound in three words?

Energetic neo-Rockabilly

Shortlisted from 543 artists down to just 25 – how did that feel?

Mad! Not sure how we managed to get that far if im honest! But very grateful we did!

Most competitions have only one winner, were you shocked to find out there was also an opportunity to play the Amped stage?

Yeah definitely. We didn’t realise this was part of the deal until hearing about it on the day of the semi-final in Bristol. We’ve played Lakefest a couple times, once on main stage and once on second stage and so are fully aware how fantastic this festival is. We can’t wait to be apart of it again!

You are playing the Amped stage – what can festival goers expect from your set?

High Energy Neo Rockabilly. Think Stray Cats, Green Day and The Clash rolled into one!! Foot tapping, head bobbing, easy sing along tunes! Perfect for festival fun.

Who is one band/artist you want to catch at Lakefest?

Fireroad

Who stood out for you at the semi final?

Echo Gecco and Alex Ohm.

Of all the bands competing who would you like to see win the prize?

I would’ve liked Alex Ohm to have won

What else have you got planned as a band this year?

we’re touring around Europe in October/November supporting Las Vegas band “The Delta Bombers’ for about 3 weeks. We also have our next album out in August, and we feel its our best work yet!

One track of yours that everybody should listen to?

Probably World on Fire. Or maybe Life You Get. That was our debut single and people seemed to have jumped on that one!

If we see you at the bar, what you having?

Jack and Coke!!!!
