AN EVENING OF NOSTALGIA, GLAMOUR AND ESCAPISM | ANDY BELL IN GUILDFORD | NORTHERN EXPOSURE

LIVE REVIEW | ANDY BELL | GUILDFORD G LIVE 12th May 2025 by Kevin O’Sullivan

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

Andy Bell’s performance at Guildford’s G Live was a fun filled evening of nostalgia, glamour and escapism. The night was a celebration of music, with Andy Bell’s charismatic presence and theatrical flair captivating the audience from start to finish, a seriously sublime and talented artist.

Opening with a selection of Erasure tracks followed by songs from his new solo album, Ten Crowns, Bell demonstrated his versatility as an artist. Collaborating with Grammy-winning producer Dave Audé, the live band delivered a polished and dynamic performance that seamlessly blended new material with classic hits. The setlist was a delightful mix of fan favourites which had the crowd on their feet, dancing and singing along. The hit song ‘A Little Respect’ was saved until the finale and left the crowd buzzing.

Bell’s stage presence exuded comfort, quality and respect for his die hard fans. Dressed in spangled attire, he emits confidence and charm, engaging with the audience throughout the evening. His theatrical movements and expressive vocals added depth to each song, creating an immersive experience. Notably, Bell took the time to interact with fans, waltzing along the front row shaking hands, further adding to the sense of connection. Throughout the evening, Andy Bell made nods to Oasis and Blondie –icons whose chart-topping hits and undeniable talent earned them a level of success and devoted followings comparable to that of Erasure in their Heyday.

The venue, G Live, provided an intimate setting that allowed for a personal connection between the artist and the audience. With its excellent acoustics (although a few technical difficulties with front stage speakers) and comfortable seating (although the crowd were on their feet from the get-go), the venue complemented Bell’s performance, ensuring an enjoyable experience for all.

Andy Bell’s concert at G Live was a captivating showcase of his talent and showmanship. The evening offered a much-needed escape from the challenges of the world, transporting attendees to a realm of music and joy. For fans of Bell and Erasure, an unforgettable night’s entertainment and a gig to live long in the memory.
