THE GUITAR HEAVY FIVE PIECE RELEASE THE FIRST SINGLE FROM THEIR DEBUT ALBUM

Following their comeback set at this years Tenement Trail, Glasgow band Arcade State have released the first track from their forthcoming debut album of the same name – Life Is Not Linear. The album, which will be released March next year, marks a significant shift from the band who have in the past year seen a massive shake up with only brothers Ciaran and Jordan Murray remaining from the original line up. However, the brothers are confident they are in a good place and the current line up makes them stronger than ever. Welcoming Cammy, Lewis and Calum, the band set up a crowd funder earlier this year and as a result they got to work in the studio on their first ever LP. The first taste of this album is the magnificent track Life Is Not Linear.

LIFE IS NOT LINEAR

All killer and no filler, Life Is Not Linear is a 2 minute and 40 second listening of pure pleasure. Straight to the point, the intro comes comes crashing in, getting right to the good stuff which showcases the heavier direction the guys are moving towards. It’s perfected modern alternative rock accessible towards even the casual listener. Layered guitars combined with the familiar Arcade State melody, the track is softened up by frontman Ciaran unmistakable vocal delivery. His tone carries something instantaneously comforting whist still managing to convey an emotional depth.

Reflecting on the inspiration and meaning behind the lyrics, Ciaran says

This one was written after what has been an unbelievably challenging year personally and is a letter to myself to tell me that everything is gonna be okay and I’m gonna be fine. I hope that anybody that listens can take comfort in this song and maybe it can help them dust themselves down and think you know what, I’ll be fine. The saying ‘life is not linear’ has never sounded so true for me but my god it has helped so much.

Ciaran Murray – Arcade State

A simple yet relatable message which only continues to build upon the dedicated bond between Arcade State and their fans. The motivational message of Life Is Not Linear is only relayed further when the backdrop of Ken Robinson’s speech of the same moral comes into play towards later in the track.

“Life is not linear, it is organic. We create our lives symbiotically as we explore our talents in relation to the circumstances they help create for us.”

Ken Robinson

Just when you think the best has already come, those final 30 seconds deliver an almighty climax. The combination of multiple heavy guitars against the triumphant drum fills have the listener begging for more. For a quickie, Life Is Not Linear packs in an almighty punch

For fans of fellow Scottish musical icons such as Biffy Clyro and Twin Atlantic, these listener’s should feel right at home with the familiar sound delivered by Arcade State. Destined to reach further, Life Is Not Linear will undoubtedly worm it’s way into unassuming ears and playlists alike.

Selling out their next Glasgow headliner at McChuills in just 3 days, the band have just announced they will be taking to the city’s West End at Oran Mor in April for an official album launch show spectacular.
