B12 ENTERTAINMENT BREAKTHROUGH: GLASGOW BANDS SET TO BATTLE IT OUT FOR A GRAND £1000 PRIZE
In February, Glasgow based B12 Entertainment launched their brand new multi-talented local music showcase, Breakthrough. Offering out the winner a grand prize of £1000 after an audience vote on the night, it was indie-pop high school friends, Road Runners who stepped away as the winner. It was a tremendous night of live music which generated a diverse and lively crowd in the city’s Classic Grand lounge; so much so, they have decided to do it all again.
Founder and director of B12 Entertainment, Gareth Gonet tells us;
“Being a musician is expensive these days and the careers of many artists unfortunately stall as they struggle to cover the seemingly endless stream of costs which they are faced with on the way up. As a smaller promoter, our aim is to create unique opportunities for emerging artists as opposed to offering a watered down version of the service provided by larger promoters. Put the two together and Breakthrough was born.”
The next installment takes place this week and will see a further five bands battle it out for the £1000 cash funded by B12 Entertainment. Each band will be invited to play a short live set on the night (Thursday 30th May) before the voting opens and the act with the most votes wins the prize – it’s as simple as that. The catch? Well, you have to be there to make your vote count.

THE RANTS
‘The Rants are a 4-piece Indie/Rock band based in Paisley, Scotland. After only being together a year, the band have managed to fill many venues in Glasgow and in Paisley as well as headlining local fundraising events. After releasing their self-titled album they’ve gained some popularity and have gained listeners all over the world. The band hope to make it out of the local scene and share their music with the world.’
PINK CLOUD SEASON
‘Pink Cloud Season are a dynamic alternative grunge and rock band hailing from the Glasgow region. Led by chanel fox and Rory doolan on vocals and guitar, supported by Lewis Ferris on drums, the band was established in June 2023. They quickly made their mark on the Scottish music scene by performing at renowned venues such as King Tuts Wah Wah Hut, Broadcast, Room 2, The Classic Grand, and the Hive. With two singles, “Poison” and “Valentine,” already part of their repertoire, available for streaming across various platforms, Pink Cloud Season draws inspiration from influential acts like Mudhoney, Hole, Queens of the Stone Age, and Nirvana. Enthusiasts of these bands are sure to find Pink Cloud Season to their liking.’
MONDAY SERVICE
Monday Service is an up-and-coming band from Hamilton. Their sound is a unique blend of shoegaze influences merged with bright indie pop. Starting as friends jamming together, they focused on creating a catalog of original songs. Their debut single, “Prettiest Eyes,” is set to release on June 7th. Watch this space…
THE FRUIT FLIES
We are The Fruit Flies and we formed back in 2021 when we were all pupils at Calderglen High School. We played our first gig nearly a year later and it was only then we realised how much we loved this band and how much we wanted success. Since then we have played many venues in Glasgow including Saint Lukes. This was a big moment for us as a band and it motivated us to keep going. Our style is not solely defined by one genre as we take inspiration from a wide variety of past and current legends.
MIXED SIGNALS
Mixed Signals are a 4-piece Scottish Alternative rock band from Ayrshire. The band formed in 2024 from a collection of Energetic, enthusiastic, hard working group of musicians who met at University. Our influences are Biffy Clyro, Foo Fighters, Sam Fender and many more. Our unique sound fuses Heavy guitar riffs and Catchy melodies with Energetic performances. And hope to make our way up in the music scenes and catch eyes on the way.
