BARRA JOHN RELEASES NEW SINGLE ‘STANLEY’

Barra John is a man of many talents and a life full of intriguing experiences. Before dedicating himself to a career in music, he had a diverse range of occupations and adventures. One of his early pursuits was playing football for Hearts, as a professional footballer. However, Barra John’s interests extended beyond sports. He had the unique opportunity to work as Orlando Bloom’s body double, immersing himself in the world of film and entertainment. This experience allowed him to witness first hand the intricacies of the film industry and the dedication required to bring characters to life. In his quest for self-expression, Barra John pursued a different art form – acting. He studied acting at the prestigious National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA), honing his craft and exploring the depths of his creativity. This formal training provided him with a strong foundation in the performing arts, which would later shape his career as a musician.

During the pandemic, Barra found himself gigging across Brazil. In the bustling city of Rio De Janeiro, he found solace and inspiration to write a poignant song called “Stanley.” This heartfelt composition delves into the painful experience of losing a child before they even have a chance to be born. To bring this beautiful song to life, Barra John enlisted the talents of Colm Mac Con Lomaire from The Frames and Kíla, as well as Anna Houston, known for her collaborations with Mike Scott, Steve Wickham, and No Crows. Together, they created a mesmerising piece of music that captures the essence of Dublin’s balladry…
