PHIL MARSDEN CHEWS THE FAT WITH THE WEST COUNTRY DUO

Big in talent and big in style, Big Special are
the collective of Joe Hicklin (vocals) and Callum Moloney (drums). Hailing from the depths
and heart of the Black Country, the duo came together after meeting at college then
various music projects gave them the desire to follow what they are obviously
destined to do. It would be an utter ignominy for these not to bring this alternative progressive sound to you

Joe’s presence on stage is like delivering a sermon to a baying crowd. They thrive
on the lyrics of real life, living pay cheque to pay cheque and doing what it takes to be
able to have their music out there. Callum is up there with the best of the best
drum percussionists, beat after beat rocking it out he is the heart that enables Joe
to deliver.

Myself (Phil) and my partner-in-crime photographer ‘Juddtookit’ were lucky enough to
sit down with the boys and chew the fat over a Guinness. From humble
beginnings to playing Manchester’s Victoria Warehouse supporting Sleaford
Mods, moving on to where life is going what 2024 will bring for the pair. Most importantly, we chatted about their imminent venue tour due to start next week which will conclude with bringing them back to a SOLD Manchester’s YES basement on the 16th December.
