BRÒGEAL SIGN RECORD DEAL AS THEY RELEASE FIRST NEW MUSIC OF THE YEAR

Dropping their brand new single at midnight, ‘Friday On My Mind’, Falkirk’s Brògeal have today announced they have signed with label Play It Again Sam.
‘Friday On My Mind’ marks the band’s first new release in almost a year, following their highly acclaimed second self-titled EP in 2024 and is already proving to be one of Brògeal’s most anthemic tracks to date. The single marks a significant step up in Brògeal‘s journey, with it’s melodic guitar tones and rich harmonic vocals the band take traditional indie pop and blend it with a distinctive folk flair, derived from their shared passion of Scottish and Irish folk music.

Speaking about their latest track, singer Daniel shares:
“It is a celebration of falling in love and living through the honeymoon period of a romantic relationship. Its a summer anthem we hope will turn any beer garden or spot in the park into a euphoric singalong that will make an entire party dance and smile. The lyrics are specific to myself being away from a new relationship while recording the album and ‘counting down the days’ til we meet again, the verses are playful and romantic whereas the chorus is tinged with melancholy and self doubts, like many of my songs are, about perhaps going headfirst into things too quickly and the hope that the flame will still be alive once we meet again.”
Signing with Play It Again Sam, the band will be joining forward-thinking artists such as Nick Cave, The Hives and Cameron Winter. On signing Brògeal, James O’Donaghue, A&R at Play It Again Sam, says:
“Brògeal are terrific songwriters, incredible live performers and a band that sound unlike anyone else around, they are totally unique. We’re thrilled to welcome them to Play It Again Sam, excited to be in partnership with them and look forward to seeing them fly the flag high for Scottish music.”
A phenomenal live show, equal parts raucous and joyous, has set the band apart over the last 18 months up and down the UK and Ireland along with their first forays into Europe. They’ve quickly become an essential live act. They are communal affairs that see cool kids and old heads, punk rockers and indie kids come together to celebrate the Brògeal sound, one that is set to take off throughout 2025 with the signing to Play It Again Sam and a string of key live shows, starting with their UK tour this month.

They’ve played with The Mary Wallopers, The Lathums, Paolo Nutini and The Wolfe Tones at their last ever show at Finsbury Park last summer.
Brògeal released their eponymously-titled EP in 2024 and have already been featured by The Independent, Dork, Clash, The New Cue, So Young, Tenement TV and more. The will be on their tour across the UK with their Spring tour, and they’ll be heading to The Great Escape in Brighton for the second time, along with a string of festival dates including TRNSMT, Truck, Wilderness and Kendal Calling.
Emerging in Falkirk from the remnants of high school bands, Brògeal united over a shared passion for Scottish and Irish folk music, punk, and garage rock. They seamlessly blended banjo and mandolin with electric guitars, carving out a distinctive sound along the way. When lockdown struck in 2020, the band took advantage of the quiet, refining their songs while socially distanced in a back garden beneath a leaking gazebo—an unlikely setting that sparked what has become the signature Brògeal sound.
The band began hosting their own club night in Falkirk, a venture that soon blossomed as musicians from across Scotland joined the festivities. Their move to Glasgow marked the start of a celebrated residency at McChuills, further cementing their reputation. Alongside a robust touring schedule nationwide and high-profile support slots with The Mary Wallopers, The Lathums, and Spector, Brògeal has established themselves as a dynamic live act. Their performances unite folk, rock, and indie fans, creating an infectious, communal atmosphere fueled by their undeniable chemistry and anthems-in-waiting that capture hearts and minds wherever they play.
