Their debut EP, ‘Heartbreak Town’, released over the summer, captures the essence of growing up in a small town, feeling out of place, and dreaming of something bigger. From the debut track ‘Not Like The Rest’ to ‘21st Century Suffragette’ and the EP’s title track, their music is a blend of personal stories, joy, and rebellion, all wrapped in ambitious melodies. The EP includes two live recordings from The Bodega in Nottingham: ‘Jam’ / ‘Right On Time’ and ‘Thelma & Louise’.
Singer Georgie reflects on the EP, saying,
“This EP really tells the story of GIRLBAND! so far, from practicing in my front room and house parties to playing hundreds of gigs all over the country and beyond. The influences we share and play in the van together come through and end up creating this record. The lyrics are messages from the heart and what I believe in, stand for, and want people to hear so they too can relate and feel that. From personal stories of coming out, freedom, and empowerment to what it’s like to be from a working-class town. It’s music for all people, and that’s what sets us apart from other girl bands out there.”
Hailing from Nottingham, this three-piece band has delivered urgent and thrilling guitar music, combining finely crafted melodies with rock and punk influences. Their music has universal appeal, earning them a growing fanbase across the UK and Europe over the past year. GIRLBAND! have been featured by prominent media outlets such as NME, Rolling Stone, Clash, Dork, Under The Radar, The Line Of Best Fit, BBC Radio 1, and 6 Music. They made a triumphant debut at Glastonbury following support slots with The Police, Sex Pistols, Eaves Wilder, Nxdia, and James, as well as playing The Great Escape and embarking on their first UK headline tour. With a packed live schedule ahead, GIRLBAND! are solidifying their place as an essential and vital live act.
