GRINDERMAN TO REISSUE FULL DISCOGRAPHY THIS SUMMER

Nick Cave’s feral side project, Grinderman, is returning in all its coarseness. The uncivilized, primal power that is Grinderman, aka Nick Cave, Warren Ellis, Martyn Casey, and Jim Sclavunos, will be releasing their whole back catalog on July 18, 2025, unleashing the physicality that originally spewed forth from the studio two decades ago.
Emerging in 2005 as an anything-goes departure from the richly detailed song craft of The Bad Seeds, Grinderman drew on Cave’s post-punk roots and the loose, anarchic attitude of The Birthday Party in creating something rough, raucous, and uncompromisingly aggressive. After the band entered into songwriting frenzy, the band recorded demos, then worked them up in 2006 with the help of producer Nick Launay.
Their debut, the self-titled Grinderman (2007), stormed the market with 11 searing tracks, including the irreproachable “No Pussy Blues” and “Get It On” two that throbbed with high-energy abandon. It was universally praised, establishing the niche for the electric presence that was Grinderman.
The band then returned in 2009 for yet another sonic whirlwind, releasing Grinderman 2 (2010) an album that became psychedelic in sound while still retaining its rough, grunge nature. It was preceded in turn by Grinderman 2 RMX (2012), an ambitious remix album, recruiting the talents of Robert Fripp, Josh Homme, UNKLE, Nick Zinner, and many others, taking the sound experimentations of the band further.
The three records will come in ecological black vinyl and digisleeve CDs for the summer, opening up the back catalogue by Grinderman for the first time for long-time fans and fresh ears. Pre-orders are available now, along with a whole line of merchandise, at www.nickcave.com/store.
