Last Tuesday saw a full blown, chaos driven, gypsy-punk street party come to Glasgow’s SWG3, as Gogol Bordello hit Scotland as part of their recent European tour. From the moment frontman Eugene Hütz and co took to the stage, the energy was relentless!

With support from Bristol punks Split Dogs and Hütz own side project Puzzled Panther, Glasgow fans were in the presence of a magnificent night of live music. This is what it looked like from our lens…

PUZZLED PANTHER

First up on the line-up was New York band Puzzled Panther. Featuring Gogol’s own Eugene Hütz on guitar, Yeah Yeah Yeah’s Brian Chase on drums and Ross Mellinger of Crazy and The Brains on bass, the line up is headed by the original duo Victoria Espinoza and Kay Bontempo. Mixing indie psych with punk sensibilities, Puzzled Panther latest EP ‘Fits of Serenity’ is a “pyschosleaze” of noise and confusion.

SPLIT DOGS

Bristol’s “Punk ‘n’ Roll Revivalists” Split Dogs were up next and delivered a sparkly, spunky set of substance and style. Hot off the release of their sophomore offering Here To Destroy earlier this year, Split Dogs have Glasgow in the palm of their hand.

GOGOL BORDELLO

Commanding the stage like charismatic pirates, Gogol Bordello led the night with infectious enthusiasm. A perfect fusion of cultural influences and raw punk spirit, the multi-nationalist New York band leaves Glasgow both thrilled and exhausted.
