OUR TOP PICKS

NEVERFINE | BAAD 3.15pm

Releasing their debut EP Do Everything, Feel Nothing in September last year, ambient Glasgow duo neverfine will make their Tenement Trail appearance at BaaD (Barras Art & Design) this Saturday. Having industry backing from the likes of Vic Galloway, The Skinny and BBC Introducing Scotland, the buzz around neverfine continues. Make sure to arrive early and see them for yourself when they play BaaD this Saturday at 3.15pm.

ABBIE GORDON | THE WINGED OX 3.45pm

Another early appearance but one worth making the effort for is the young singer-songwriter Abbie Gordon. Yet to officially release any music, Abbie is one to watch on the new music live circuit and has already supported artists such as Luke La Volpe, ili, Katie Nicol and currently Kerr Mercer. With her angelic raspy tones and sweet pop sensibilities, this young pop star will no doubt leave an impression on all of those who are fortunate enough to see her perform at The Winged Ox this Saturday at 3.45pm.

rEDOLENT | BARROWLANDS 2 STAGE 4.30pm

A band who could be playing much higher on this Saturday’s bill are Edinburgh based 5 piece rEDOLENT. Having released their critically acclaimed debut album dinny greet in May this year, the band have recently been shortlisted for Scotland’s prestigious Scottish Album of the Year Award. Taking place again in Scotland’s heartland of Stirling later this month, the band are up against some of the strongest releases of the year so far. This weekend, rEDOLENT are scheduled to perform at the Barrowlands 2 stage hosted by BBC Introducing Scotland at 4.30pm.

THE KITES | ST LUKES 5.15pm

Traveling north bound from Leeds are The Kites. Another band championed by BBC Introducing, the Yorkshire quartet released their debut EP Headlights earlier this year and can now boast appearances at Reading & Leeds Festival amongst many more to their repertoire. This weekend, The Kites will make their anticipated appearance over at the stunning former church venue of St Lukes at 5.15pm.

MAJESTY PALM | BARROWLAND BALLROOM 6pm

No stranger to NE are this next Glasgow duo, Majesty Palm. Made up of singer Olivia McCosh and multi-instrumentalist Cameron Robertson, the two piece will return to Tenement Trail this weekend on the much expanded stage of the iconic Barrowland Ballroom. 2023 saw Majesty Palm hit the first full capacity moment during their early dinner time slot at The Winged Ox and since then they have thrived on the Glasgow scene; even making the final of BBC Introducing Scottish Act Of The Year Awards in March this year. With new music set to drop this week, make sure to pack out the Barrowlands for Majesty Palm this Saturday at 6pm!

SLIX | BARROWLAND BALLROOM 7pm

Sticking around Barrowland Ballroom, next up are Greenock based five piece, Slix! Another favourite amongst the NE scene, the band last performed at Tenement Trail in 2022 at BaaD. Since then, Slix have supported bands such as The View, The LaFontaines and Tenement Trail ’24 headliners, Declan Welsh and The Decadent West. Bringing unmatched energy to every performance, Slix are one band who will be on your radar in the next 12 months. You can catch them at Barrowland Ballroom at 7pm this Saturday.

FRIGHT YEARS | THE WINGED OX 7.45pm

If you don’t mind a quick stage dash then you should absolutely head back around the corner to The Winged Ox for Fright Years. The Edinburgh based band fronted by the charismatic Jules Kelly have been a frequent sight on the Central Scotland live scene over the past few years. Melancholic guitar driven indie pop, the band are carried by the rich flipping tones in Jules’ warming vocal delivery. Their latest release ‘Stars‘ is one of their best efforts yet and we can’t wait to see where this band end up. Make sure to head along to The Winged Ox for 7.45pm sharp.

PARLIAMO | ST LUKES 8.15pm

Without even needing to go out into the cold, you can make your way to St Lukes next door for our next recommended band, Parliamo. The six piece indietronica infused rock band are well rehearsed in these parts of Scotland. Last performing at the exact same venue just weeks earlier supporting Brògeal, the Perth based band are set to return to St Luke’s as the venues penultimate headline act at 8.15pm. An impressive live act well worth catching in an intimate setting whilst you still can.

DECLAN WELSH & THE DECADENT WEST | BARROWLAND BALLROOM 9.15pm

Goes without saying that the festivals’ main headliner will be on most “must see” lists, but with Declan Welsh and The Decadent West (DWDW), that recommendation couldn’t be stronger from us. A staple name in TT history, the Glasgow band have two albums under their belt, several EP’s and many headline tours across the UK and Europe. This hometown headliner will be making their much anticipated return to Barrowland Ballroom almost two years to the date of their biggest sell out show at the same iconic venue. With new music imminent, DWDW are ready to to embark on a brand new era and this will be a defining moment in that rising journey. DWDW take the Barrowland stage at 9.15pm!

VLURE | BAAD 10.15pm

The night does not end there, but for us more ‘mature’ audiences and those relying on the great Scottish public transport network to get them back home, it may mark the end of Tenement Trail 2025. For those not locked to the Scotrail timetable, BaaD headliners VLURE will see you out in an intensified euphoria (coincidentally also the name of their debut 2022 EP). With notable support coming from the likes of NME and BBC Introducing, VLURE are one of the hottest acts coming from Scotland today. Catch them closing the BaaD stage from 10.15pm.

BOTTLE ROCKETS | McCHUILLS 12am

Still got more in you?? Well the party finishes up along the road at McChuills with NE favourites Bottle Rockets who play the festivals iconic midnight slot! A slot previously owned by the likes of other Glasgow new music stars The Big Day and Spyres, 2024 marks Bottle Rockets second year in a row at Tenement Trail. Last year, they had a prominent position on the main Barrowlands stage, so it was always going to be hard to top that one; I think if you can hang around late enough though, then this may well be a highlight of the day.

This list only scratches the surface of the incredible new talent in offer accross this years Tenement Trail. I know if you step out your comfort zone and pop something new on your line up for the day, you will leave with a new found favourite!
