KEYAN HOUSHMAND w/ SEBASTISIDE and AURATEQUE | BERGY BANDROOM, MELBOURNE by Alira Fratantaro

Keyan wrapped up his debut headline The Kinetic Tour with a high energy, impassioned set at the Bergy Bandroom, in Naarm/Melbourne on 15th June. This was the final stop of a 3 show run after Brisbane and Sydney earlier in the week. Backed by a drummer and fellow guitarist, Keyan and his band delivered a dynamic performance that effortlessly balanced loud and high energy tracks, with more melodic and emotive moments.

Opening up the night was Naarm/Melbourne’s Sebastiside (Sebastian Garcia), whose roots in metal shone through in a tight, expressive performance. With influences ranging from Lamb of God to Sylosis, his set laid a strong and heavy foundation for the night.

Next up was Aurateque from Eora/Sydney, a stand out act blending punk infused metal with flashes of hardcore, math rock and electronic textures. Their heavy alternative soundscape offered a captivating balance of chaos and composure, pushing genre boundaries while keeping the crowd entertained. They are the kind of band that always leave you wanting more, especially with how infectious their energy is.

Keyan Houshmand is a content creator who focused his online presence on his guitar playing capabilities before releasing his original music and touring across the country. His videos teach viewers how to create heavy music from home and he has gained a decent sized following from this.

It was clear from the first note after Keyan took to the stage that he was in his element and he definitely thrives on stage with his passion and technical skill radiating throughout the set. His entire set consisted of him and his band performing his original songs – no words, just music. The only time he used the microphone was to interact with the crowd which was a new experience for me, it’s not every day that you go to a show with no lyrics.

The night was a celebration of heavy music’s diverse corners, with Keyan closing out not just the show, but his tour, on a high note, leaving Naarm/Melbourne fans eager for whatever comes next for his career.
