LIVE REVIEW/PHOTO GALLERY | LISSIE w/ TYLER RAMSEY | LONDON UNION CHAPEL 12/11/2024 by Kevin O’Sullivan

This week, American singer songwriter Lissie returned to the UK, ready to captivate the imaginations of those all around her. Starting at London’s stunning Union Chapel, we headed along to find out what fans can expect from Lissie across the tour.

TYLER RAMSEY

Tyler Ramsey, known for his work with Band of Horses, brought a mesmerizing presence to Union Chapel as he opened for his longstanding friend Lissie. His performance was jaw droppingly good, his voice filling the chapel’s hallowed walls in a way that felt both delicate and powerful. Ramsey opened with a long version of his song ‘Raven’, a haunting, tender track that immediately captured the audience’s attention. Its intricate guitar work and poignant lyrics set the tone for a deeply reflective set, his voice rising with warmth and vulnerability, yet always perfectly controlled.

The reverence in the room was palpable; Union Chapel was hushed as the audience listened with rapt attention. Ramsey’s songs, rich with imagery and emotional insight, evoked a serene beauty that felt amplified in such an intimate space. As he moved through his set, each song resonated more deeply, his gentle storytelling and understated stage presence drawing the audience closer.

There was an almost sacred quality to the experience, as if Ramsey’s music belonged in that very chapel. His set was a perfect companion to Lissie’s, his songs lingering in the hearts of listeners and leaving an indelible impression that carried beyond the venue.

LISSIE

Lissie delivered a memorable performance, blending old favourites with fresh tracks in a way that felt both nostalgic and forward-looking. With her passionate followers, who had travelled from near and far, filling the historic venue, there was a palpable sense of anticipation as she took the stage. The setting was perfect for Lissie’s first time at the venue, her soulful voice and heartfelt songwriting—her raw, powerful vocals filled every corner of the chapel, resonating with an intensity that had the crowd spellbound, and she made it fun!

Opening with a mix of beloved hits and newer material, Lissie struck an ideal balance, giving longtime fans moments to sing along while introducing them to the latest chapters of her musical journey. Tracks like “When I’m Alone” and “Everywhere I Go” stirred deep emotions, with her voice carrying the weight of experience and reflection. Meanwhile, new songs hinted at a bold evolution, with lyrics that spoke to resilience and personal growth. The chapel’s reverent atmosphere only heightened the experience, lending a spiritual quality to each song as the audience listened in hushed admiration.

Throughout the night, Lissie’s easy connection with her fans was evident. She shared stories between songs, giving glimpses into her life and the inspirations behind her work. It was clear she felt as moved as her audience, feeding off the energy in the room. By the end of her set, Lissie had not only performed but created an emotional journey for everyone present—a testament to her talent, warmth, and the enduring connection she shares with her fans.
