LIVERPOOLS ‘STONE’ ANNOUNCE DEBUT ALBUM ‘FEAR FOR A LIFETIME’

NEW SINGLE ‘MY THOUGHTS GO’ OUT TODAY!

Liverpool quartet STONE have become next wave contenders following two acclaimed ‘punkadonk’ EPs, substantial support from Radio 1, and a raucous, unpredictable live show all building a powerful two-way community between the band and their ever-growing following. Now STONE are set to move with intent throughout 2024 with the news that they will release their hotly-tipped debut album ‘Fear Life For A Lifetime’ on July 12th. Today they provide a first taste of the record with the new single ‘My Thoughts Go’ that also arrives with a striking accompanying visualiser.

‘Fear Life For A Lifetime’ is an album that simmers with such passion that it can’t be ignored. STONE present a collection of songs which come together like a coming-of-age narrative – a place that can help people navigate the tumultuous experiences of young adulthood. If you’ve felt love but not always felt you deserved it; if you’ve been ambitious but also wracked with self-doubt; if you’ve been confident at times but crushed by anxiety at others: this is the album for you. Just as importantly, if you’ve ever felt like you don’t belong, STONE offer a community that feels like a welcoming home-from-home.

Vocalist Fin Power says, “This album speaks for everyone’s experiences. It’s about community, passion, love, hate, singing, dancing: all of that comes into it. It speaks for all of our experiences, we want to show ourselves as well and only portray what is actually us. I’m hoping people can relate to it and understand it, and maybe find their own stories through our songs.”

The music is just as essential, feeling like an exploration of a wealth of alternate genre touchpoints, from vehement post-punk poetry to soaring indie anthems built for pints-in-the-air gig mania and sun-kissed festival fields along with a hip-hop undercurrent and a vitriolic edge. What’s more, they possess an unlikely cocktail of magnetic, arena-ready charisma with an instantly relatable down-to-earth modesty.

STONE (Claudia Legge)

If you’re new to STONE, the single ‘My Thoughts Go’ is an enticing introduction. Its hook is simplicity personified, its overall sound in tune with the greatnorth-west indie bands of the past but with a propulsive vibrancy that can only come from this specific moment in time. It’s a song about the dual anxieties and exhilaration that come the morning after drunkenly confessing your love for someone.

STONE – completed by Elliot Gill (guitar), Sarah Surrage (bass) and Alex Smith (drums) – recorded the album during sessions in Vermont with producer Rich Costey (Sam FenderHAIMBiffy Clyro) capturing these snapshots of British youth culture while immersing themselves in the life and routines of the small town of Brattleboro. They subsequently collaborated with some unexpected guests on the album including an exciting newcomer in the shape of shortstraw.

‘Fear Life For A Lifetime’ is now available to pre-order on several different formats or pre-save HERE.

They might be a relatively new band, but STONE’s roots go back almost a decade. The moment Fin first heard how good a guitarist Elliot was, he insisted they form a band together and promised that they couldn’t fail – a promise that became ever more achievable with the addition of Alex. The final part in the puzzle was Sarah, originally from Oxfordshire and now also based in Liverpool. The boys loved that she was rock ‘n’ roll and that she added something different to their dynamic, while Sarah was won over by their determination. As they pitched to her: this is Plan A, there’s no Plan B aside from trying even harder.

Since then, STONE have prospered by taking their impossible-to-ignore live show on the road with artists such as Sam Fender, YungbludInhalerThe Wombats and DMA’s as well as festivals including GlastonburyBST Hyde ParkReading and Leeds. Meanwhile, their headline shows grow in stature with every run, including a recent sold-out UK tour which saw them stay late after every show to ensure that they took the time to make a personal connection with every fan who wanted to talk to them. Much more live news will emerge in the near future, but for now STONE are moving with intent and perfectly positioned to capitalise on their growing reputation.

STONE have today also announced a run of live instore events at UK record stores during the week of album release.
