McFLY BRING FUN AND NOSTALGIA TO GLASGOW’S SOUTHSIDE

Glasgow welcomed McFly to headline one of their Summer Nights in the Southside concerts, accompanied by a brilliant line-up of Scottish rock talent to get the party going!

Alt-rockers Picture The Scene kicked off the evening and got the early birds warmed up, while Ayrshire band Vukovi brought a heavier sound and plenty of attitude. Frontwoman Janine Shilstone built a great rapport with the audience, although her colourful language did prompt one mum to quickly cover her wee boy’s ears!

Twin Atlantic completed the trio of support bands, and there was no let up in the energy. Bassist Ross McNae even grew up in the Southside, making the performance feel extra special to the local crowd. ‘Heart and Soul’ was a particular favourite, judging by the audience reaction.

When it was time for headliners McFly, they proved that they’ve only got better with age! Bursting onto the stage with the energy of a pack of golden retrievers, they had the crowd singing along to virtually every word. The band were completely at ease, chatting and joking with fans throughout the night. After spotting a sleeping child in the audience, they even launched into the Postman Pat theme tune, so random, but everyone loved it.

They made sure the excitement never dipped; there was running, leaping, power poses, and guitars being swung around the stage. A giant inflatable football even made its way through the crowd and somehow ended up in the photo pit. I know because it bounced straight off my head before security sent it back!

For the finale, Tom’s son Buzz joined the band on stage for ‘5 Colours in Her Hair‘. He played the guitar brilliantly and definitely looks to be following in his dad’s musical footsteps!
