A ferocious night of punk rock on a windy Tuesday | Blackpool, Bootleg Social 16/04

Millie Manders And The Shutup kicked off the second leg of their Angry Side UK tour to a packed room in Blackpool, with support from Voodoo Radio.

Father-daughter two-piece Voodoo Radio kicked off the evening in tremendous fashion, delivering some cracking songs in ‘Ice Cream Man‘, ‘Slag Bank‘, ‘Pretty Boy‘, amongst others alongside some equally great banter (Paige made sure we all understood her dad was not her boyfriend!). Sounding like a cross between The Rezillos and The Sewer Cats, they received a great response from the crowd and got the whole room warmed up.

When Millie Manders And The Shutup hit the stage, they immediately got the crowd going, asking everyone to sing along to opener ‘Here We Go Again (Black Dog)’. Their set consisted of several more singalongs on ‘Bitter’, ‘Rebound’ and ‘Panic’ (including obligatory pogo’ing with the crowd on the latter), a few of deep cuts; ‘Poor Man’s Show’, ‘Silent Screams’, ‘Glitter Mix’, some absolutely furious deliveries on ‘Can I Get Off?’ and brand new song ‘Me Too’ (both from forthcoming album Wake Up, Shut Up, Work) and finishing extremely strong with ‘Not OK’ and ‘Your Story’.

Millie, as usual, demonstrated her phenomenal vocal range throughout the show and was given excellent back up from the rest of the Shutup – tight drums from Pete, great guitar from Joe and some thundering bass from Georgina (who could not look happier to be up on stage).

It was a great turn out for a Tuesday night and the whole room was buzzing by the end.

Millie Manders And The Shutup’s second album, Wake Up, Shut Up, Work, releases on 2nd August and is available to pre-order now.
