MILLIE MANDERS AND CO. RETURN WITH POLARIZING ‘MAD AT THE WORLD’ DOUBLE A-SIDE NEW SINGLES

MILLIE MANDERS AND THE SHUTUP – ANGRY SIDE/CAN I GET OFF

After an excellent 2023 which saw the release of two great singles (Rebound and Shut Your Mouth), appearances at Slam Dunk, North West Calling and Wildroots Festivals (amongst others), as well as their own Shut Your Mouth Tour, Millie Manders And The Shutup are off to a flying start in 2024. They’ve already toured with Zebrahead on the Slam Dunk Winter Jam and have another headline tour lined up for this month with The Angry Side Tour.

But ahead of that, they’re gifting the world with some new music, and better yet, it’s all for charity with proceeds from sales of the new 7” going towards Mercy Without Limits, a charity raising funds for causes in Palestine.

Angry Side is a very pop punk song, looking back at being an angsty teen with the focus being on when a spicy memory from that time comes back to haunt you – something we can all relate to as I think we’ve all been there at some point. “I broke the world, I went in strong, I hated life, I cried inside”. It has a punky sound with a sprinkling of ska throughout. When it gets to the chorus it goes HUGE and the bridge is just fantastic!

Can I Get Off? tackles more serious subject matters, namely the state of the world in general. It has an urgent, spiky opening riff followed by some truly excellent bass before Millie’s urgent vocals kick in. And Millie does not hold back here, completely unafraid to tackle genocide, white hypocrisy and calling out other bands for being all talk and no action for fear of how they’ll be perceived “Scared to lose your following, scared to say what’s right”. Similar to Angry Side, it goes huge in the choruses but also features ticking over the breakdowns, counting down how our time may be up.

In summary, both tracks showcase the different sides of Millie Manders and The Shutup appealing to both new and existing fans of the band.

Angry Side/Can I Get Off? releases this Friday 5th April and The Angry Side Tour kicks off on 10th April.
