This weekend we’ll be heading down to Oxford’s Hill Farm for this year’s Truck Festival!

Dubbed a “mini Glastonbury” Truck caters for all and will feature main stage sets from Jamie T, Wet Leg, The Streets and even an appearance from 90s fitness legend Mr Motivator!

We caught up with Sophie and Charlie who will be heading down for us this weekend to find out who they’ll be watching!

Is this your first time at Truck?

This will be my 2nd time at Truck and 2nd time covering the festival for NE! Truck was a festival that had been on my radar for a while as the line up is always one of the best in my opinion, so when I got the chance to check it out for myself last year I was so excited!

Safe to say it didn’t disappoint and I can not wait to get back to Hill Farm!

The food is also i-n-c-r-e-d-i-b-l-e, and I haven’t stopped thinking about the falafel and pitta stall since last year, so best believe I will be first in the queue for one of those too.

Who are you most looking forward to watching?

I’ve been a huge fan of Jamie T and The Streets for a long time, so to see both in a weekend will be one to remember I’m sure! I was buzzing when Peace finally released new music last year after taking some time off, so I’m looking forward to seeing how this new era of the band plays out live.

I’ve also been trying to catch NewDad and SOFY for a while so will definitely be getting down early to watch their sets.

Who else should we be checking out across the other stages?

On Friday I’ll be watching Antony Szmierek, who we have been fans of for a while over at NE and who you might have spotted doing some spoken word on NewsNight after the last England game. I’m hoping to check out Cucamaras too who are a new discovery for me, both on The Market Stage.

I’ve recently got into Fat Dog, a post-punk electronic band from London who are playing the Nest Stage on Saturday. Their debut song ‘King of the Slugs’ is 7 minute long masterpiece -it’s mental. So I have a feeling that their live show will be equally as impressive despite only forming as a band in 2020.

On Sunday The Nest Stage perfectly sums up the diverse range of genres on offer at Truck, with Delights, Mary in the Junkyard and Bob Vylan all on my ‘must watch’ list.I think Truck is one of the best festivals to discover new and emerging artists, so for any first time Truckers I recommend heading over to the This Feeling stage, or the V&V stage to watch some of the UK’s future headliners.

This year I’ll definitely be watching Spangled headline the This Feeling stage – their sets are always full of energy and lead singer Ben has a talent for bringing just the right amount of chaos to a festival tent.

Is this your first time at Truck?

It is! I’m absolutely buzzing to come over to Oxford, it’s something I’ve wanted to do for a while.

The lineup this year is, putting it lightly, incredible. It’s unbelievably diverse, pulling bands new and old from the indie scene. Moments like this only come round every few years.

Who are you most looking forward to watching?

Out of the dozens I’d love to see, it has to be IDLES after seeing their Glasto show. But, I’d love to catch Sundara Karma and The Kooks for some nostalgia. I’ll likely end up at The Amazons too (it’s a ritual this point if they’re playing!).

Who else should we be checking out across the other stages?

On the Truck Stage, you’ve got to see the headliners obviously. You’ve got the fun of Wet Leg one day, and the observational genius of The Streets the next. Asides from those, Coach Party, Black Honey, NewDad are all worthy of your time. The Market Stage has Cucamaras, The Royston Club, Nieve Ella and The Snuts. I believe The Magic Gang are there too, which might actually be their final ever show, excluding the recent headline performances we covered. The Nest has the aptly billed The Pigeon Detectives and English Teacher, both are marvels live.
