LIVE REVIEW | OCTOBER DRIFT | THEKLA, BRISTOL | 25th November 2025 by Ollie Hayman

October Drift may have only been active for about ten years, but they have made a significant impact on the indie rock scene during that time. After pouring their hearts into their music, they are set to conclude their journey as a band with three intimate farewell shows. The opening night took place at Thekla in Bristol, followed by a performance at Gorilla in Manchester, before wrapping up at The Garage in London.

Opening the night with an acoustic set and opening by saying “welcome to our funeral” was fitting and set the tone for the evening. This set got them playing deep cuts and songs they wouldn’t have included in their main setlist, showing that the band truly cared as they listened to what the fans wanted and played those songs.

After the acoustic set, the full band acoustic set kicked in, and in true October Drift fashion, with lead singer Kiran Roy getting into the crowd only after the first couple songs, and at one point ending up swinging off the lighting rig on the roof of the boat, only to promptly lose grip and fall – but no fear – the show went on as planned and with no obvious injury! It takes some guts – or stupidity – to do that, but their live shows and their craziness is what got them this far, so why not go out with a bang? To be opening their final tour at one of their local venues too, somewhere where they’d have grown up and likely seen many bands there, as well as playing there themselves before, just shows that they wanted to keep this intimate. With no fancy stage setup, it was just a true, perfect rock concert. A proper goodbye, one that’ll live long in their minds as well as all attending.

They play their last two shows on the 30th of November at Manchester’s Gorilla, and the 2nd of December at London’s Garage. If you want to see some true showmen play their last ever shows, it’s one not to miss – if you can find tickets that is!
