ONLY THE POETS | LONDON – KOKO | 05/06

One of the many exciting new bands making a dent in the UK’s prominent indie pop scene are Reading based Only The Poets. Celebrating the release of their latest EP ‘One More Night’ which dropped just 5 days earlier (31/05/24), the indie quartet were clearing riding on the wave of elation generating from the records positive reaction.

On the EP title track One More Night, Martha of Northern Exposure said;

“…lead singer Tommy Longhurst brings a coarse, strong, emotional quality to not only this song, but every track in this body of work, amplifying the echoing background vocals to give it that live-performance, full-audience feel.” Read the full 4 star review by clicking HERE

The live outing for the band since the release of the EP and they choose to grace the stage of the iconic Camden KOKO. Having previously provided support to the likes of Louis Tomlinson and Lewis Capaldi, Only The Poets are no stranger to a big crowd and their presence tells. Ripping with confidence from start to finish, they deliver an especially polished and captivating set for a band so young in their careers.

Performing a popular mix of tracks stemming from their inception such as Even Hell, Every Song I Ever Wrote, Looking At You and Ceasefire to name but a few, and of course, a few thrown in from the new EP such as I Don’t Wanna Be Your Friend, Gone By Now and of course, title track One More Night. There’s even a live debut of (I think) unheard song Black and Blue; which front man Tommy decides to perform from the comfort of the crowd.

Their anthemic energy, wrapped up in relatable emotion transcends just as well to the stage. For anybody contemplating checking out Only The Poets later this summer then we encourage you to take that plunge!

Currently on tour across Europe, the Reading band will return to the UK stages in August to play their reschedule dates in Glasgow, Manchester, Bristol and Southampton, as well as their appearance at Reading & Leeds Festival. Tickets available NOW!
