“POWERFULLY NOSTALGIC” | JAMIE WEBSTER SHARES NEW SINGLE ‘SMALL TOWN LIFE’

SINGLE REVIEW | JAMIE WEBSTER – SMALL TOWN LIFE by Myles Pearson
Some people can spend years trying to outrun where they came from. Jamie Webster has built an entire career by embracing it. And, with ‘Small Town Life’, another heartfelt hometown classic is born.
Taken from his forthcoming fourth album, Running Round The Sun, the single was recorded at the legendary Rockfield Studios alongside acclaimed producer Dave Eringa. The result is a song which feels unmistakably Jamie Webster. Anthemic without being overblown, polished without losing its soul, and rooted firmly in his own everyday experiences.

From the opening chords, ‘Small Town Life’ is powerfully nostalgic. It’s the kind of song that instantly transports you somewhere familiar, whether that’s nursing a pint in the corner of an old local or standing alongside fellow fans on a football terrace. Webster has always had a knack for turning ordinary moments into something worth celebrating; here he captures those snapshots of everyday life with remarkable warmth.
The beauty of the song lies in its relatability. While Webster writes from his own experiences, ‘Small Town Life‘ never feels exclusive. Instead, it becomes a love letter to the communities, friendships and shared experiences that shape us all. Success may change your circumstances, but it rarely changes the memories that made you who you are – Webster explores those ideas with honesty rather than sentimentality.
Musically, the track is bursting with optimism. Driving guitars, soaring melodies and an irresistible chorus make it feel tailor-made for live performance. You can already picture thousands of voices singing every word back to him across festival fields. You can just as easily imagine it soundtracking quieter moments shared with friends over a pint. That ability to feel equally intimate and expansive is one of Webster’s greatest strengths.
The accompanying video perfectly compliments the song’s themes. Featuring appearances by Ricky Tomlinson, Paddy Rowan and former England Lioness Toni Duggan, it reinforces the track’s celebration of people. Rather than relying on spectacle, it simply lets everyday life take centre stage, making the song’s message feel even more authentic.
With Running Round The Sun arriving this September, ‘Small Town Life’ suggests Jamie Webster isn’t interested in chasing reinvention for its own sake. Instead, he’s continuing to refine what he already does exceptionally well: writing songs that speak to ordinary people in an extraordinary way.
‘Small Town Life’ is available to stream now across all major streaming platforms. Jamie Webster’s fourth studio album, Running Round The Sun, follows on 4th September. If this latest single is anything to go by, fans have plenty to look forward to.
