Let’s look at the artist’s first gig in Liverpool, 24th January, on the ‘Big In 25’ gig list.

CALLUM CODD

Callum Codd is a talented singer-songwriter hailing from Widnes, England. Known for his heartfelt lyrics and soulful melodies, Codd’s music resonates deeply with listeners, offering an authentic and emotional experience. His performances are characterised by their emotional depth and intimate atmosphere, making each song feel like a personal story shared with the audience.

You may recognise Callum as the frontman of the rock quartet The Racket, where he honed his skills as a vocalist and guitarist. After the band disbanded, he embarked on a solo career, releasing his second solo single “Better Days,” an uplifting 60’s-infused track inspired by The Beatles’ Rubber Soul period. The song showcases Codd’s ability to blend vintage sounds with modern sensibilities, creating a unique and captivating musical style.

Drawing inspiration from the likes of The Beatles and The Beach Boys, Codd’s music often features lush, organic soundscapes and introspective lyrics. Whether performing solo or with a band, Callum Codd’s music is a testament to his passion for storytelling and his commitment to creating meaningful connections through his art.

THE KOWLOONS

The Kowloons are an indie rock band hailing from the vibrant music scene of Liverpool. Known for their fresh and energetic vibe, the band has quickly gained a reputation for their dynamic stage presence and infectious energy. Their music is a unique blend of indie rock and catchy pop hooks, creating a sound that is both familiar and refreshingly new.

Their latest single, “Give Love,” is a feel-good anthem that injects a generous amount of positive energy into their growing repertoire. The track features harmonies reminiscent of their influences, such as The La’s and The Wombats, and explores themes of materialism and love in the modern world.

The Kowloons have drawn inspiration from a diverse range of influences to create a sound that is distinctly their own. Following the success of their previous singles, “Can We Go Faster?” and “Raining (It Don’t Stop),” “Give Love” is the third release from the Southport band’s debut EP. This release comes after an incredible home show supporting The Kairos at the O2 Academy in November, as well as a UK tour. Whether performing at intimate venues or larger stages, The Kowloons consistently deliver memorable performances that showcase their talent and passion for music. With a growing fanbase and increasing recognition in the indie music scene, The Kowloons are definitely a band to keep an eye on.

THE ROLLING PEOPLE

Stockport’s rising stars, The Rolling People, closed out 2024 with a bang, delivering their high-energy anthem “Reign” as their final single of the year. Following the success of their previous releases, including the riff-driven “The Thief” and the explosive “I’ll Be There,” “Reign” sees the four-piece rock band at their most confident and commanding.

Since signing with LAB Records earlier this year, The Rolling People have quickly gained traction in the indie scene, earning playlist placements on Apple Music and Spotify, as well as support from XS Manchester and Radio X’s X-Posure. Their music exudes a youthful energy that’s far from the tired tropes of traditional indie rock “Reign” is fresh, forward-thinking, and a perfect representation of the band’s raw ambition. This Stockport quartet is poised to take 2025 by storm.

SLEEPING TOGETHER

Known for their lush, ambient soundscapes and introspective lyrics, this four-piece band from Manchester has quickly gained a reputation for creating immersive musical experiences. Their latest EP, “I Won’t Tell If You Don’t,” released in August 2024, features four tracks that showcase the band’s signature sound. The title track, “I Won’t Tell If You Don’t,” opens the EP with a hauntingly beautiful melody that sets the tone for the rest of the record. Other standout tracks include “Someone I Can Love,” “Always In My Head,” and “Daisy (Marc Jacobs),” each offering a unique blend of ethereal melodies and poignant storytelling.

Since signing with LAB Records earlier this year, Sleeping Together has been making waves in the music scene. Their music has been featured on popular playlists on Apple Music and Spotify, and they’ve received support from BBC Radio 6 Music and Amazing Radio. Their sound is a refreshing departure from the typical indie rock fare, offering a more introspective and atmospheric approach that sets them apart from their peers. Sleeping Together are one of 2025’s most promising new acts.
