‘MIDNIGHT BUTTERFLIES’ OUT 14th JUNE

Sea Girls release their next track ‘Polly’ today. It is the latest to be taken from the band’s upcoming album ‘Midnight Butterflies’, released 14th June on the band’s new independent label Alt. Records.

Polly’ follows recent single ‘Come Back To Me’ and the band’s triumphant set at Live at Leeds then Radio 1’s Big Weekend in Luton where they performed alongside the likes of Coldplay, Vampire Weekend, Olly Alexander and more.

Sea Girls performed at both this years Live at Leeds and BBC Radio 1 Big Weekend (Live at Leeds – Kayleigh Nickson/Northern Exposure)

‘Polly’ is a bass-driven tune that offers a change of tempo. It grows from stripped-back beginnings before giving way to a harder edged and tightly written track that sets it apart from some of the more expansive earlier singles. It shows another side to the musically adventurous band who are constantly absorbing different inspirations.

Singer Henry Camamile talks about the track below

“At the time I was talking about how some of the early Beatles stuff, like “Girl”, lyrically felt like a Drake song and how modern some of the phrasing still felt. So I was inspired by those melodies and matter of fact lyrics, like “I wanna hold your hand. Something simple, exciting and relevant day to day.  “We had a lot of fun delving into the feeling of being dumbstruck by someone to the point of not being able to speak”

Sea Girls will embark on the ‘Midnight Butterflies Tour’ later this year. The UK leg kicks off in Sheffield in September and runs to mid-October, finishing in Belfast. This follows the band completing a sold-out mini-tour of the UK earlier this year, where they debuted songs from the new album culminating in one of their favourite ever shows at KOKO in London.
