NEWS | SHAME PLAY MANCHESTER’S PROJEKTS SKATEPARK AS FINAL SHOW AHEAD OF HIATUS by Lucy McLachlan
British post-punk group shame are set to play a one off massive show at the renowned Manchester DIY venue in Projekts skatepark on Friday 4th September before going on hiatus. With two shows before this, in Huddersfield on 2nd September, and Sheffield on 3rd September, this final show was announced when shame took to Instagram on 28th August 2026 to announce that after the Projekts show, they will be taking a break.
Their 4th album Cutthroat was released last September 2025 via Dead Oceans with the band touring extensively round the world and ending with a handful of UK dates in September 2026.
The band wrote in their announcement: “This isn’t a decision we’ve taken lightly, however we think it’s best for us as individuals and as a band to take some time off…and believe us when we say, we will be back badder and better than ever to deliver you all the fifth shame record of your dreams….These shows we have coming up are the last shows we’ll do for a little while so come on down and let’s make some great memories”
Known for their raucous and confrontational live shows, the South London punks were last in Manchester back in November 2025 playing to a wildly packed out New Century Hall. Playing high energy blistering sets since they appeared around 2016 fresh out of Brixton’s Queen’s Head scene, we can only imagine what a last show might go off like, this is one not to be missed.
Support comes from London art rock band The Orchestra (For Now), Limerick dark shoe gaze band THEATRE and London alt rock band Tooth.
Projekts is a sprawling venue inside a concrete skatepark under the Mancunian Way flyover just a short walk from Piccadilly Station. Ramps and rails have the crowd clambering up to get the best vantage points and recent gigs have become legendary. Projekts also has fully licensed bars with food from Bundobust.
