SOAP PLAY THEIR FIRST LIVE SHOWS UNDER NEW NAME

LIVE REVIEW | SOAP (fka The Tyne) | O2 ACADEMY2 ISLINGTON 09/11/23

On Thursday night, SOAP (formally known as The Tyne) performed a rocking show to a packed-out O2 Academy2 Islington. Hot off the back of supporting Busted on their epic Greatest Hits Arena Tour, the 4-piece band are currently on their highly-anticipated headline tour.

The first performance of the night came from alt-indie group, South Arcade, who have previously been featured on BBC Introducing and secured a ton of epic support slots. Their set was fierce yet fun, with a stand-out sound that certainly got the crowd pumped.

Next up was alt-pop star Bronnie, who appeared to be very familiar to the majority of the audience – unsurprising, as her set packed a punch and had the whole room jumping.

Before long, it was time for SOAP to take to the stage. With over 19K monthly listeners on Spotify and over 380K TikTok followers, the young band (Ryan, Josh, Cooper, and Noah) have already amassed a pretty solid fanbase- so I was excited to see them perform in an intimate venue.

Frontman Ryan Lofthouse maintained a remarkable stage presence throughout the show – in fact, the whole band were high-energy and engaged with the audience throughout, making it hard to believe they’re so young and early in their careers.

SOAP performed a range of tracks, including fan-favourites such as Jessica and Demons. They also wowed the crowd with their newest release, Bad Mood – which is a real catchy track, and definitely worth checking out.

Bronnie also rejoined the band on stage for a high-energy cover of My Chemical Romance’s Teenagers, which went down a treat with the fans.

Overall, SOAP are certainly ones to watch. Their rapidly growing fanbase is a well-deserved reflection of their musical talents and vibrant personalities.
