SQUID ANNOUNCE OFFICIAL CAMDEN AFTER PARTY FOR ROUNDHOUSE GIG

Camden Assembly to host Official Squid Afterparty

Back in London for one night only, Warp records art rock-quintette, Squid, are throwing an unmissable carry-on after their headline show at the Roundhouse, promising a chaotic club night of electronic, post punk and synth pop.

The Camden Assembly is gearing up to host one of the most experimental DJ sets in London this month when the boundary-pushing Squid band take over the decks. This event on Saturday 26th April is the official afterparty for the art rock-quintette’s headline show at Roundhouse and sees lead singer and drummer, Ollie Judge, and bassist, Laurie Nankivell, ditching their kit for the ones and twos with a bag full of tunes more eclectic than David Bowie’s wardrobe.

Known for their chaotic, incendiary live shows and a sound that spans punk and jazz with avant-garde influences, the Bristol-based Squid have been having a right old time of late.  Their third album, Cowards, recently released on Warp records, has earned yet more critical acclaim as their best yet. A collection of stories about cannibalism, cults and the cheery possibility of an imminent nuclear holocaust, NME perfectly summed it up as “freaky and fascinating”.

Freaky and fascinating is a fitting description for the after party where crowds will follow the band as if heading back to their gaff for a carry-on, several doors up Chalk Farm Road from the Roundhouse to Camden Assembly. With a capacity of just 200 people, buying an advanced ticket – just £7 – is strongly advised. EARLY BIRD NOW SOLD OUT!

From art rock to electronic and post punk to synth pop, as heard on their monthly show on Noods Radio, the Squid DJs will be in celebratory mode. Having already completed the UK and European legs of their Cowards tour, the band are back in the UK for one night only before they head off to unleash the Squid beast on the United States.

Join in the celebration from 11pm until 3am… and maybe give Sunday mass a miss.
